I should point this out from the start, I don't plan on just driving out to where-ever and nomading it out. I'm divorced with a 16 year old, so that would complicate things. :)

But I do plan on just moving onto a campground nearby full time here in Southern Illinois. Sure, the place I'm wanting to go is either $450 or $480 a month, but since that includes everything and almost all the parking spots for campers and RVs are practically lakeside? And it's something I can afford? Why not. My parents and/or uncle would have to move the thing for me anyway... I sincerely doubt my '99 Honda Accord EX would pull the camper I got. ;)

Back in June I got an OLD (1973 I think) 24 or 25" pull behind camper for 500 bucks. No leaks save for one tiny leak above where the fridge is supposed to go, so I'm not going to complain. Though (with the help of my parents) we had to almost completely redo the inside, which we're almost done with. My mother is scared to death of anything propane, so the trailer is more or less meant to be plugged in to shore power. Though I do have a small solar kit (my questions about that are in the appropriate area for that kinda stuff... hehe) and a lot of rechargeable things.

We've used reclaimed stuff a LOT on the inside... probably a good 85 to 90% of it. Either stuff we found on the side of the road or on Craigslist like a boatload of trim, 20 or 30 feet of countertop that came in handy, a modest size pile of 2x4's that my uncle had left over, beadboard paneling we found on Craigslist for super cheap because it'd been taken out of a house and had staple holes and stuff in it. Even went so far as to keep as much as we could when tearing out the inside.

I've been watching Bob's videos for a good few months now out of both interest and getting ideas. I mean, sure, a typical van is quite a bit smaller than what I've got but the same principles and ideas can be applied to any smaller space.

I'm normally quite reluctant to get on forums. I've never not had the internet since 1994 and I can probably count on one hand the number of forums I've ever posted in, and even less of those I continue to post in. But I thought I'd at least give this one a try. :)

Welcome to the CRVL forums Dhalamar! Your trailer redo sounds interesting. Any chance we can see some photos, please? :)

Well, let's see...

The outside hasn't changed much since we've been concentrated on the inside. (Like I said, this thing cost 500 bucks, so it's a little rough on the outside. But I've been a LOT worse for double or triple the price on Craiglist)

The first picture I took of the inside, and a few others that I took while we were still tearing stuff down to fix a wall and redo the inside.

And here are some I took just probably 10 minutes ago. Obviously it's not done, and there are still things that need to be done. But most of the big stuff is almost done. Once I get the floor in I can get my stuff into it and start working on the smaller things.

Since it'll just be me in there 90% of the time (my daughter comes and goes whenever she wants, and for the time being I'll be in my parents' back yard) the dinette section... while I still have the hardware for the table itself (I'd just have to make a new tabletop itself) I'm not going to be using it for that, it's just going to permanently be a bed. And I've still gotta clean out the tub, get a shower in there and do the drain pipes.

Probably a hundred or so more other little things. lol

It's also got a 21 gallon water heater that's meant more for a trailer. My mother insisted on that, though eventually I'm going to get a smaller one that's more suited to a camper so I can get that space back.

Gettin' there... still not done, but I'm at the point where I can start bringing things out.
