Do any of you have any experience working for American Land & Leisure? I know that Gary goes to Quartzsite to recruit employees, and they say they are the largest concessionaire in the country. Just wondering if anyone has worked for them, and what your experience was. How do they compare to CLM? Do they encourage filing for unemployment after the season is up?

Thank you in advance for any information you might have.

T, there's a facebook group that reviews workkamping gigs. I remember seeing a not very favorable review with regard to AL&L. However, it was pointed out that the problem could havbeen local management as opposed to the concessionaire

Hoodoo is one that operates in the Northwest. I've talked to a few of their camp hosts and they are happy with their gigs.
And they do file unemployment after season.

In all fairness sometimes good companies hire bad managers. I liked CLM a lot but I know guys who worked for bad managers and had a very bad experience.

Sorry, I don't know anything about ALAL

I did finally receive my paperwork from CLM today, and instead of the 35-40 hours per week promised in the phone interview, the contract says 25-35 hours per week, and it's only $9 an hour, so significantly less than I was hoping to earn and save over the summer. BUT, I'll be in a beautiful place, getting experience for next year's fabulous assignment, with plenty of time to relax and read, and hike and photograph, and dream. :D

Nana4twins, the odds are pretty good that other people will not show up or they won't work out and leave or be fired and you will get a chance to move up to full time soon after you get there.

Thank you, Bob! I'm looking forward to the experience.
