Is any one else experiencing extremely slow shipping from Amazon?

The last orders have averaged 8 days, and the latest one has not even shipped after 4 days.

Is this a ploy to get me to give them an extra $99 a year? After 8 years as a customer, I am ready to search other options.

Dealing direct from Renogy, I placed an order at the same time, and it is due in tomorrow!   :s

Amazon and Christmas  :dodgy:  They may just be out of stock on what your ordered.  This is the shopping rush.  I know it usually says if they are out of stock, but computer glitches happen or the last one was broken.  It may even be an outside vendor filling the order.  I do like Amazon other than having to pay sales tax.  It has always worked well for me with a lot of the shipments showing up a day early.

We have been ordering for years and I noticed that once they started offering the $99 service, times slowed way down. Even when the warehouse was operating in KS about 2.5 hours from where we lived, we went from 3 or 4 days to 10 to 14 days. I have more than once cancelled items because I found them cheaper while out shopping. I get a box that asks why I am canceling so I can point out what the problem is. Basically, they'll put the people's orders coming in after yours on top of yours if they have the $99 service. I looked at the service but it doesn't make sense for us and I always order over the $35.00 and get free shipping. I am frugal and weigh every expense with an obsession. Most things I don't need right away so I'll keep my $99 for something else.

Thanks, I hope I get my order before too long.  Snow due in tomorrow, and I hate to work on wires in the cold.  I might just save that project until RTR.    :(

A few months ago in the News there was a piece about Walmart's intending to go into competition with Amazon.

I don't know if this has happened yet but the competition could be a healthy thing.

I've noticed the same thing this past year, even talked about it with others. Free shipping seems to equate to letting it sit unshipped for days, when before odds were solid that you would receive item in 3-4 days. My PC died last week and I ordered a new MB Sunday afternoon. I paid for shipping instead of the free option and wouldn't you know, it was delivered from Kansas on Tuesday at 2pm. Funny that.

This is the response i got from Customer No Service.   :dodgy:

I placed the order on the 7th.  Still no notification on shipping.

Hello,

We still expect order #xxxxxxxx  to be delivered by December 14, 2015 - December 17, 2015; which was originally shown after the checkout process.

The most up-to-date delivery date for an item will be displayed during checkout. Please understand that standard shipping will be delivered within 3-5 business days after the order has shipped.

Keep in mind that using one of these methods does not mean you'll receive your shipment on the next 3-5 business days after the order is placed. It does *not* change how long it takes us to assemble and ship out your order--it only reduces the delivery time after the item leaves our fulfillment center.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best regards,
Egbert D Giovanni

I am a Prime member, and do enjoy the quick shipping on many items.  Others aren't qualified for Prime but usually come fairly rapidly.  The only ones I wait for are coming from overseas.
Since becoming an Amazon Prime member I have no use for ebay and it's nonesense.

I've noticed slower shipping also, as I like others only order when I have at least $35 worth to get the free shipping. I've even recently received orders after the delivery date quoted on the tracking ;( I especially don't like when they use Smart Post, which is where UPS hands it off to the Post Office for final delivery. It usually adds at least 2 extra days in my area.

I have not ordered anything recently but I have to agree with everyone, they are slower. And Masterplumber you are so right about "Smart Post" it would more accurate to call it "Dumb Inefficient Post". I have had those packages delayed by a week and more in our area of Montana.

I never really noticed a slow down in amazon shipping. But as others said its the holidays so everything seems to be slower than normal.

with that said I also am a prime member best thing I did. I love the fast shipping but more than that I love being able less than $35 bucks worth of stuff and not having to pay for shipping.

need a 5 buck cable no problem I can order it where before I'd either have to wait and get the free shipping threshold of stuff or pay for shipping which usually for cheap stuff is more than the item.

then I bought the firephone when it was on sale for like 149 and it came with a free year of prime as well so i got a good deal on that.

i used to use ebay and newegg a lot but not so much anymore.

When the shipping slowed down, Amazon lost a lot of the business I was giving them. SmartPost? It only makes delivery on time about 90% of the time. Now, Fed Ex has a version of the same thing with the same results. We had a package from another vendor due yesterday and I watch because the mail person sits it where the rain will hit it or someone would trip and then I am checking after dark and no package. I checked on line and it had changed to there not being able to give a date of delivery. The package arrived a week ago at a facility 90 minutes from our house. This is not the cause of the season. We live in central KS, you can purchase nothing here so we order nearly everything online. Well, the more frustrated I get, the less money I spend so I guess I still win in the end.

I ordered a small folding solar panel on Tuesday, it came in yesterday. I do not have prime membership, but did get the free shipping due to price. Two days is pretty fast. I also ordered a book on the same day that did not qualify for the free shipping, it shows to be delivered today.

From my perspective, no slow down from Amazon on this end.

I ordered a 100W panel from Renogy on Tuesday.  I got it at 11AM today.  Amazon still has not even packed my wiring supplies.  Then there is this.

Smart Post can be very stupid.

My physical address does not get USPS service, though I have to use the physical address for UPS and FEDEX.

For USPS I use a mailbox located in front of the property. It is considered a PO BOX and therefore is not usable as a residence for the state nor for as an address for UPS and FEDEX.

Stupid is as stupid does.

I just happened to be at the PO this AM inquring about an eBay package that did not arrive at the PO BOX via USPS. They said "wow, you are right on top of your package!" Handed me a package that was much larger than the eBay package and weighed a lot less, mostly empty box. I looked and it was today's Amazon shipment arriving via Smart Post. The PO admonished me for having the incorrect physical address instead of the correct PO Box. Took me a while to figure out that I had been Smart Posted by Amazon.

Update.

I received a notice at 2AM saying my package had shipped, (On a Sunday?)  and would be here on Tuesday.

Yesterday I saw the USPS jeep go by.  It was stacked to the windows.

I encountered another problem yesterday when I tried to order a 4 lb box of dried cherries which I have done a few times. It said the item could only be purchased by Prime members and placed it in "Buy Later" bin of my account and gave me a link to sign up for "Prime". I wrote customer service and got a response (foreign) who had no concept of what I was talking about. I canceled a pending order at that point and didn't order the rest of what was in my "cart". I know it won't matter to Amazon but it made me feel better.

The response was one of a number of pre written ones that a automatic system spits out depending on key words in your complaint.

You honestly do not think a human reads those do you?

Amazon is due for a major downturn.  :dodgy:

If you say you aren't satisfied with the response, you do get a person at that point and I am sure of that. I didn't bother this time. I have went several rounds with them in the past on other issues.
