I always wondered how bad the mosquitoes really were in AK. Texans think they have a lot but not compared to the northeast as far as I was concerned. I guess it must be relative to what you are use to....

I've been spoiled living in the Salem, Oregon area for most of my life. Not much for skeeters there. I did live in North Pole, Alaska for a few years and must say, they are quite bad from spring through early July. That's the main reason I left. It was a love-hate relationship, they loved me and I hated them.
I've been in Minnesota, Mexico, Thailand, and Florida. Gotta say Alaska was the worst. YMMV

If you are mostly in towns with their concrete and black-top, they aren't so bad--many towns spray for them. It's once you get out into the muskeg that they are incomprehensibly bad. The literally create a cloud around you.
