Finally broke down and bought another awning after not even having one for several years as the original was blown away by a Willawa in Alaska. I returned from a tanker at the VMT to find most of my awning in the woods. I would imagine there has got to be a video on the installation of a new one and if anyone has seen one available please post it because I cannot find one. I have downloaded the print instructions from Carefree but it does look intimidating to me and with drilling holes and mounting stuff into the fiberglass, you dont want to screw it up. Getting ready to jump back out on the road and that is also intimidating with all thats going on in the world/country right now and hope to meet up with some of you along the way.

There should be factory reinforced mounting points, The awning MUST be mounted to those points. Highdesertranger

Generally the awning case is made such that the mounting brackets can slide down it's entire length so the brackets can be mounted on different trailers. If your trailer had a factory mounted awning then it should have had extra support built in to mount those brackets. Living where the wind blows and having seen the damage that can be done by and to awnings I would recommend returning the awning and buying a self standing screen room. That way all you lose is the expense of replacing the screen room!

Yes, thanks Ranger, I am trying to use those but what I had and wish I still had, was a Dometic 8100 but they cost a ton more than this one. This setup is a little different and hopefully all the holes arent stripped out but some are since the old one was blown away. In case anyone else needs one they are only $599 + $129 shipping on Ebay as opposed to Godknowswhat at the RV place.

Here is the video:

Hey thanks alot Sofi. Actually the one I have is completely manual and is cranked in and out with a big crank tool which may present another problem for me as my trailer is very high! I am tall but first I've got to get it on and it is heavy and bulky 19' long! Carefree has an electric but I chickined out on the wiring and also the electric ones are not as sturdy in the weather.

WanderFree do you have a link to that awning? I went on the Carefree website I they don't have a thing in that price range. Highdesertranger

I will look. A little dumb with the computer stuff. But, the seller is "shadeproinc" located in California and they sell on Ebay. Fantastic outfit. For example; one of the arms arrived damaged and they sent me another complete hardware pack UPS. I don't understand how they are able to sell for so much less than the manufacturer but they do. I shopped for a couple months before buying this. However, during that time shipping cost increased $30 from $100 to $130.

I just googled "complete awning kit for RV". Shadeproinc is awesome and if I ever get this 20' monster installed, I may order a slideout awning for my superslide so I dont have to brush off the branches anymore.

Update: Got it on there and its nice. But it was tough going with two neighbors and my son and I don't recommend anyone unstout or unmechanical to attempt. Hire a tech. Ready to hit the road, just need a direction...
