I don't think this tire looks that small?

Even so, I think I would prefer the dual wheel version.  Consider:  There's a single center connection at the trailer hitch and another single connection to the road at the center by the single wheel.  You've got to be extra careful to get the weight over the center and secured so it can't shift to one side or the other.  With the dual wheel type, you've got three points of contact, like a stool.  Got to be a lot more stable.

Thank you OP. Even with my sleepy pea brain I am able to understand that!

that trailer thing looks scary.Q: how would you know you had a blowout? A:when it feels like you suddenly threw out an anchor and cars flying into ditches, trying to dodge what looks like 4wheeler grindings.

lets see I don't much about new ATV's. most of the companies are pushing the side by sides and they are stupid expensive. yes they have 4wheel drive models. I will try to explain a few things. I used to ride dirt bikes so I will try to address that too.

there are basically three types of ATV's, 2 wheel drive, 4 wheel drive, and kids models. we will ignore the kids models.
so 2wd v. 4wd
for the most part 2wd's are meant to go fast that's how the make it through rough terrain.
for the most part 4wd's are slower, and heavier they make it over rough terrain by using 4wd.
most 2wd's don't have much in the way of racks or hitches.
4wd's have hitches and racks.
this is what first got me to try an ATV was the ability to carry gear. a dirt bike isn't of much use on a ranch but an ATV has become almost indispensable for ranches.
I like a manual transmissions I don't even know if there are manuals sold anymore on 4wd's
I built a dog box for mine now Scout can go everywhere with me. BTW I have built a few dog boxes for other people.
IMO you need a trailer that single wheel thing doesn't seem to heavy duty especially off road.
BTW Arizona will give you a license plate for you ATV making it Street Legal.
if anybody has any specific questions I will try to answer them. highdesertranger

oops I forgot about how I secure them. I really don't do anything special. I stay away from high crime areas. I keep my ramps locked which would make it a little difficult getting it off my trailer, my trailer is tall. highdesertranger

Those pics of you and Scout were so much "wish that was me" !

I'm sure mine is a 2wd. It goes way faster than I need to go and is old. I have had it stuck in the mud several times and don't really enjoy that squishy feeling when my feet sink to my ankles in mud ☹️. It's small though so I can man handle it a bit. Whoops woman handle it I mean.

I have racks and a snow plow attachment on the front. Just a small one. This thing isn't big. I need to leave it here for my niece and nephew who are living with me and I'll buy something else when the time comes. I almost flipped it back over on myself one time. That would have been very bad!

I supposed I can measure the tiny cargo trailer to see if one will fit in it but I sure didn't want to bring it with me. I have a hard time enough getting in and out of places and don't really like to drive at all. I've had to tow livestock for many years so am not unfamiliar with towing but I was hoping to be a bit more free.

I would not waste my money on one of those single wheel trailers unless your going on very short trips. I have had a number of ATV's over the years. Honda and Suzuki, 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive with a winch and without. As an adult I wouldn't get anything less than 250cc utility. They do come with a rear rack and front rack in 2 wheel drive and work fine unless your in mud, snow or climbing steep hills. I have been riding dirt bikes,ATV's and street bikes since I was 11. I am now pushing 70. With my riding experience and age I would look for a 400CC or larger in a 4 wheel drive with a winch but don't have much use for one in Florida. Most of my back woods riding was done way up north in mud and snow.

My niece's hubby on my putt putt. We don't need no stinkin' dog box [emoji12]

How would that differ from having a blowout on a normal trailer?

Thanks old dude. I really appreciate everyone's input. I'm going thru a learning curve again just like when I bought the tires. I'd be messed up again without the great advice.

I sure don't want to camp anywhere there is snow or mud and I don't know about going up very steep hills either...

I spoke with Gunny this morning. He suggested one of those different ATVs that you get in and ride. He has one. When he told me it would do 65 MPH though I think I'd just sit on it and scream the whole time I tried to go anywhere. I know you don't have to push it that fast but, with a bit of confidence/stupidity, I might go nuts and do it!

Sounds like the side by sides that are stupid expensive. If you got the funds, go for it.

I don't think it's what I want. I like my quad and I think I'd like to take one with me just newer. Mine is very old.

That pooch was a cutie! ;)

Yeah , Gunny got a sweet ride.
It almost looks MAD !

Hope you find the perfect one for you!
And take it easy with it, it and you will last longer!!!

Bardo, I don't want a dirt bike.   I had a motorcycle when I was 17 and it took forever to scrape the road out of my arm.  I'm not what I once was and have had around 16 broken bones from a myriad of weird accidents.  I would just feel safer with 4 wheels under me.  I don't go fast anymore either.  Thanks

I consider quads total death traps and refuse to even get on one anymore. I grew up on 4 wheelers and thought the same thing about dirt bikes. after 3 fairly major accidents I quit. fast forward 15 years I got a bike and would never look back unless its doing what highdesert is doing or something. using it for sheer utility.

to me they're heavy, unwieldy, they don't turn well, and they roll on top of you if you get stuck on a hill. a bike is 10x safer and more enjoyable. we have an acronym in the bike world AGATT. (all your gear all the time).

a big wheel ttr 125, which is for about 12-14 year olds, not a little kids bike but not quite full-size, is what I started back trail riding with it was a sooo much fun and so forgiving. its enough power for any big hill and about 180lbs. I could plop it on my hitch carrier all day long.

That little one sounds interesting. I wonder if they have one just a tiny bit bigger

Bardo, I'm very careful as I sure don't want to get hurt. I just use for utility not anything crazy

you get hurt from pushing yourself and ride beyond their capabilities. if you don't do this you won't get hurt. in my younger days when I thought I was indestructible I wrecked plenty of dirt bikes and ATV's. once I got older and wiser never. anytime you need speed to get through whatever, you are asking for trouble. go slow, nice and easy. leave the speed for the young kids. highdesertranger
