Found a great looking 04 Sprinter with 172k miles for $5k. It's a Diesel which I have new owned and wanted to get some advice on what to look out for.

the sprinter forums have a very good buyers guide, perhaps the best on this subject. the most common issue Im aware of is injector leakage and in some cases it is a very costly fix. thats the main issue but there are others. thats on the very low end of the price range for used ones.

While usually reliable, there are some VERY expensive parts on these. Unless you are capable of DIY maintenance it is hard to find qualified techs anywhere except the largest cities. That being said my 06 has been very reliable (knocking on wood)in the 8 years/100k miles that I've had it.
