Hey all, I need some help. I have the opportunity to buy a 2002 Dodge/Mercedes Benz/Freightliner Sprinter van with 141k miles, diesel engine, minimal wear and tea. The guy wants $9500 for it but I have no idea what it's worth. I went to two banks and the VIN didn't provide any info on the Kelly blue book or NADA websites. It runs great and would be a great project for conversion. If I buy, I just want a fair deal but I don't know how much it's really worth...any advice?

Thanks!

I was looking for one of those recently here in MN, and I couldnt find any for less than $10k. It also has really low miles for the age and engine of this vehicle. Most of the ones I found for around 10K had over 200k miles.

www.nadaguides.com/

You don't run it by VIN, but by year, accessories, miles and general condition. Gives you an average of what vehicles are selling for; always has a bit of leeway. Read the description for each 'condition' (condition 1-5) to decide which value to use.

Doesn't list an 02 Dodge Sprinter... it was badged as a Freightliner and sold as a commercial vehicle only in '02. NADA PROBABLY doesn't cover commercial only vehicles.

Try here:

http://www.edmunds.com/dodge/sprinter-cargo/2003/?sub=van&ps=used

Thanks Seraphim! That gives me a better idea of a ballpark figure. I went to the DMV and the VIN brought the vehicle up as a freightliner (as you mentioned). Thanks for the help!
your 2002 Dodge/Mercedes Benz/Freight liner Sprinter seems to be really interesting. also the price is normal with 141 miles. normally we get vans around of 200 miles. i think its a fair deal. but make sure the papers and the things suggested by seraphim are correct. otherwise just because the price is fair we can lose the right deal. so think 1st and then decide.
