Hey guys - My co-worker is going to be selling his 1995 Chevy Beauville van, 5.7L v-8, 132K miles, rear wheel drive. I am wondering if any of you have ever owned this vehicle or have any info to share about it. This was an Alaskan resort transport van that was very well maintained then privately owned for about 4 years. It has been used primarily to haul light weight fishing boats for the past 2 years. There is only one spot of rust that i can find - in passenger side door well. One ding on back passenger side light - will have to replace. He is wanting around 2K for it. Thoughts?

They are good vans and as long as the price is right I wouldn't be afraid to use it. The rear side windows are unfortunate but as long as you black them out then insulate them they can be covered up inside easy enough.

I'd try and get him down to about $1500.
I'm a big fan of the Chevy 5.7's, and I like the side barn doors. (I don't care for the sliders)

It's kinda hard to really tell just from looking at pics on the interweb, and not taking it out for a spin...but other then that, it looks like a decient unit to me.

Thanks Patrick. Kelly BB value is 1200 - 1800 so I copied that off and showed it to him. I'm thinking 1,500 sound reasonable for it. If I buy it I will be living in it the 6 months that I am staying in Alaska. Anything under $2,250 will break me even on rent plus I will have a set of wheels to explore a bit with. Ideally, I would be able to drive this back to the states in October. I will take it to a mechanic to have it looked at before then.

Greetings!

Sounds a little steep to me, looks like $1k or so worth of damage to the back.

That being said, make sure you have money left to turn it into a livable space, including a really good heater. (I'd go with a 23k BTU kerosene heater)

Are the parts you'll need readily available in your area, and reasonably priced? Something to consider...

Cheers!
