I moved out of my mom's house after she died in 1990. I lived in a step van about a block from Capitol Records in Hollywood CA while I did a summer program at GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology). Then ended up in a small San Diego office building @ $350 a month for about 3 years. No hot water but at least I could plug in my guitar after everyone went home for the day. <br /><br />When I could no longer afford that I traded my car for a Chevy Van motor home, did 6 months in a homeless shelter, and then back into a Chevy 3/4 ton van. I moved to Portland OR just before Xmas 1999 and then into an SRO (basically a hotel room @ 30% of your income) before I got my SSI. Then my gf and I moved into a cheap duplex for about 10 years. About 2 months ago I got an inheritance from my father and bought an 1800 square foot house in Vancouver WA. <br /><br />I've lived in 10 different states so I guess you could say I've been around the block.
