    Cheap living in RV parks

    We found a place called Ben's Hitching Post in Silver Springs FL for $230 a month and an even nicer place down the road from there for $285 a month. This was is for 3 month period. If you stay fulltime at Ben's it's only $150 a month. About 25% of the RVs there have people living in them...

    Willy:&nbsp; What happens when you have several dark rainy days (or more) in a row with no sun to charge the batteries?

    enlarging rv door

    Jaxton: I don't know what your son himself weighs but once was sitting at a CG watching the sun go down when the people across from us exited their RV with a folded wheelchair.&nbsp; They set the wheelchair up and went back inside... they came out with a woman of about 150 lbs sitting in a...

    Our RV came with a bookshelf under the TV. Books are heavy so you want to keep them as close to the floor as possible.

    RV living in Manhattan

    Niall: The COL in NYC is out of sight. If you want a decent small apt in a decent neighborhood you will pay $2500 to $3000 a month and that doesn't include utilities.&nbsp; The middle class is being squeezed out of the city.&nbsp;

    Walmart 's - Casino's - How Does "free" Overnight Parking Really Work?

    To Morgan:&nbsp; No, you can park there but a 5th wheel is very obvious and I assumed you wanted to keep a lower profile. And 5Ws are not very maneuverable.&nbsp; Not all parking lots have large open spaces.&nbsp; They have islands, trees, curbs, light-poles etc.&nbsp; Most slide-in campers...

    What is your living quarters when, fulltiming, traveling, boondocking, RVing...

    To Accrete: That sounds like as good a set-up as any and gives you more living space. <img src="/images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif" class="emoticon bbc_img">&nbsp;

    Walmart 's - Casino's - How Does "free" Overnight Parking Really Work?

    To Morgan: Oh yes. The general public I believe is not aware at all what's going on out there. They see RVs and think of campers and snow-birds (which we are both BTW). They don't realize how many people are living in RVs and have been for years. It's just that the economy today has driven more...

    What is your living quarters when, fulltiming, traveling, boondocking, RVing...

    Accrete: Is the tow van just a van or does it also have a kitchen, bathroom etc?&nbsp; We met a couple at Tim's Ford in TN living on one of those small 16' fiberglass TTs. With a large dog no less.&nbsp; They're retired and want to see the entire country. I think their was a Casita.&nbsp;

    Walmart 's - Casino's - How Does "free" Overnight Parking Really Work?

    Morgan:&nbsp; Seek out a cheap place to dump your tanks every week or two. Truck Stops usually have "dumps" where you can dispose of your sewerage for a nominal charge and take on fresh water. Once you're out there you will meet others living the same way and most will be willing to share their...

    Walmart 's - Casino's - How Does "free" Overnight Parking Really Work?

    If you keep a low profile and don't start putting things outside your RV/van/whatever, you can keep moving around from one place to another.&nbsp; We met people doing that both in CGs and places like Walmart, Flying-J, fairgrounds etc. In time they rotate back to the first place where they started.

    will pay $$$ for meal plan with shopping list

    The problem I ran into buying beans or rice in bulk were those grain insects. Tiny little bugs that make the food webby and their tiny little white worms. Keeping these insects out of natural grains and beans (seeds) seems to be impossible unless you can keep it all refrigerated, in an airtight...

    Cooking from scratch VS. prepackaged foods?

    Given the choice and opportunity, we always make meals from scratch. We don't care for processed foods since they're not only costly, but they're unhealthy with all the salt, preservatives, fats, dyes, carbs.... ugh!

    stove thread

    Morgan7600:&nbsp; Bread is hardly worth making for most people. Ovens in RVs are small and not easy to clean.&nbsp; Counter space is limited except in the huge expensive rigs.&nbsp; Publix, Kroger and other grocery stores sell any kind of bread you may want.

    National Puppy Day and adoption woes

    Dazer: They should be bred ONLY if they're up to standard which less than 1% from mills and BYBs are.&nbsp; The rest should be neutered or spayed.&nbsp; Working dogs are another class of dog. They too should be tested for work or sport before being bred. Those who fail should not be bred from.

    National Puppy Day and adoption woes

    Cyndi: I am in total agreement with you.&nbsp; BYBs and Puppy Mills don't have their dogs tested nor do they show them. Those things cost money. These breeders couldn't care less if the pups they sell go blind at young ages or can't walk because of hip dysplasia.&nbsp; I don't know how anyone...
