Filling the hours....

I've been living in my van for almost a month and have stayed within the same city (I still work) with random camping trips on the weekend. I'm hardly ever bored.

To bide my time I:
-Workout 3 hours a day (1 hour cardio in morning, 1 hour weights with 1 hour cardio in...

    Ford E Series

I just bought mine last Thursday. It's a Ford E250 van with a V8 4.6L engine. I'm averaging 17 mpg with my first tank so far. Mostly doing highway except for today I've been driving around the city most of the day. I'm driving it as much as possible to make sure its good to go before the...

    bonnaroo (and other festivals)

I freaking love bonnaroo and festivals like it. I just recently got my van and am in the middle of converting it but I'd be down for an informal meat up at a festival.

I got tickets for lollapalooza and plan on stealth camping in Chicago when that happens.

Is purchasing a newer van a good investment?

    Wemble,

It's not a difficult concept to comprehend. Some of us work our asses off (Just in case you think you're the only one) and for us to lose our job due to a van breaking down is not an option. I have entertained the fact of buying an older van and am still...

Is purchasing a newer van a good investment?

So pretty much black vans are a no go? I just found an insane good deal with a local dealership. 2008 econoline conversion van that's in extremely nice condition with 34k miles for $9,000. Test drove it and it drove like a boss.........but then remembered they absorb more heat :<

Is purchasing a newer van a good investment?

I'm looking at older vans and looking for a good van mechanic to compare costs. I'm still leaning towards the newer van but am entertaining both areas. The newer van gets 26 mpg, from what I've seen all older vans get 10-15 mpg.

I can't save money, I need a vehicle now unless I plan on...

Does bedding have to be elevated?

If I get a van without the metal divider I'll do it but so far all of the vans I've been looking at have the metal divider with a middle door between the front seats and the back area. I guess I could take it down if it wouldn't be too bad doing it.

Does bedding have to be elevated?

Maybe I'm missing the post somewhere and I apologize if I did.

My original plan for my bedding was to buy a mattress and just toss it in the back of the van. I'm noticing a lot of people (if not all) have their bedding elevated and I think I remember reading a post about moisture on...

Getting ready to become one of the few.....or many?

Yeah I actually attempted to sleep in my car for a week to test the waters before this happened.

The E250 is a cargo van with no shelving or anything. The only thing it has is the mesh metal divider with a door in the middle which I think is perfect for it.

I'm trying to decide...

Getting ready to become one of the few.....or many?

Thanks for the advice and welcomes everyone!

Yeah I would love to go into this without any debt. I was recently a victim of the Oklahoma Tornado's/Flood waters and my car was totaled which I probably should have mentioned. I either am going to have to get a loan for a car and move into an...

Is purchasing a newer van a good investment?

I can understand not going into this with debt. With my given situation being between homes and this past week my car being totaled from the Oklahoma tornado's/flood damage I have to get a loan for a vehicle anyways and it needs to be dependable as I work on a schedule and need to make it to my...

Is purchasing a newer van a good investment?

Thanks for the responses!

The van comes with a 6 year or 150,000 mile warranty and I thought it was a decent price. My plan is to pay it off as soon as possible and then save up a bulk amount of money and go traveling across the US and save up money for a home/retirement when I get too...

Is purchasing a newer van a good investment?

    Hello everyone.

I recently was approved for a loan for a 2012 Ford E250 Van with less than 6,000 miles for around $18,000.00 which would make my loan payments at around $476.00 per month after a $2,000 down payment.

I'm currently employed full time and make around $1,800 per...

Getting ready to become one of the few.....or many?

Hello everyone!

I'm 29 and currently new to this lifestyle. I just heard about it less than a month ago. I recently got out of a two year relationship and had to stay with a friend until I could move into a new place. We ended up talking one night and he said since...
