I would not trust the power, you would need an alarm that rings your phone and also an audible alarm on your rig at critical temp. It is possible but difficult I think.

I like my plates to be visible for the law so they can see I am legal. People know about van life now so I think anywhere you park somebody will recognize what's going on. I think a lot of people are hateful and may try to cause trouble for an outsider but most people are kind.

I keep my tool on me out of sight if permit allows. States that do not allow I just put pistol in a lockbox chained to truck floor. I have the long guns in a locked case bolted to the floor of truck. cheap but it would be real hard to get at them weapons. even for me.
