    Norcold freezer cold, fridge not

The freezer gets ice cold, the fridge does not. Thoughts?

adding second separate battery bank - ground to chassis or main house battery?

If I wanted to install a manual switch on the hot for the solar/invested to either be joined with the house or have solar switch to the house, coil I just connect the negative between inverter batteries and house batteries, and connect solar to the “in” on a switch, and inverter on “A” of switch...

adding second separate battery bank - ground to chassis or main house battery?

I have 2 6v batteries wired in a series that provide power to the 12v system system. I've installed 400 watts of solar, and have two other 6v batteries connected to an inverter. I want to keep them separate for a variety of reasons. I'm unsure what to do with the ground though. Should i ground...

    adding solar to Travel Trailer

My assumption is that I will be able to run the air conditioning off of the 5k inverter, even if just for a short while (definitely not all night long!) thoughts?

    adding solar to Travel Trailer

I'm sure I could have gone smaller, but this one was given to me by someone that had a previous installation. I tested it, and it works - in my conversion van i had a 1600w inverter that couldn't power my kureg, so i figured "bigger is better." My understanding is that the inverter won't waste...

    adding solar to Travel Trailer

Thanks! I'm adding 400w solar, and plan on having a total of 4 batteries - I just wasn't sure if I'd be able to add 2 to the existing 2, or if they should be a separate bank. My system is a 30 amp system. My main goal is to be able to run air conditioning and microwave. when those aren't...

    adding solar to Travel Trailer

I'm going to be adding solar to my travel trailer. at present it has two batteries, which are charged by the shore power. I'm pretty sure they are also charged by the trailer towing wiring.  I am going to add a 5000 watt continuous power inverter as well. I'd like to be able to plug my shore...

best way to power 31' travel trailer off grid?

What we have grown accustomed to is living off of 12v, with solar and it hasn't been a problem. The one thing that may be an issue is the pop-out seems to only operate when the system is on shore power. Is that normal? I may need to get an inverter that is at least able to operate that.

best way to power 31' travel trailer off grid?

We're trading in our '93 Sportmobile conversion van for a 31' travel trailer. i had rigged our sportsmobile with a bank of batteries, an inverter, and solar/generator, and alternator charging. we were able to live off grid without ever running out of power. My understanding is that travel...

Adding separate fuel tank for onan microlite genrator

I believe that the carburetor went bad on my generator and I blame ethanol in the gas. If this is true, my solution to keep this from happening again is to install a separate gas tank (currently integrated into primary gas tank, and can’t afford to run zero ethanol for van engine). Two...

connected 2nd solar array, how to know if it works

Thanks for the reply. So if my batteries are low the 13.8 should increase? I assume that’s the function of the controller? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

connected 2nd solar array, how to know if it works

I love my project-on-wheels, and I love this forum! I have a Harbor Freight 100w solar kit that I installed. I recently installed a 2nd house battery and a 2nd HF 100w kit. the solar controller reading didn't really go up much that i noticed (13.4-13.8, which is consistent with with what it was...

Want to add inverter to power all 110v receptacles

After reading everyone's very helpful comments (I love this forum!) I've decided that the cost/benefit analysis indicates it's not worth it to power ALL the outlets via the inverter. I'll just add two new outlets that are inverter powered. One of them will be near a zip-strip that I power the...

Want to add inverter to power all 110v receptacles

Greetings, My system is equipped with shoreline and generator that will simultaneously charge the house battery and provide power to the 110v system. It is equipped with a power CONVERTER that supplies 12v dc when AC is provided from either one of those. I'd like to add a power INVERTER so...

Want to add solar to system with generator, shore & alternator (engine) charging

Would there be an advantage to replacing it with an upgraded device? If so what would you recommend? Would it help in setting up to charge off of engine alternator? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Want to add solar to system with generator, shore & alternator (engine) charging

I connected the solar array to the included controller (the Harbor Freight one). and connected that to the battery. It worked fine. If it was connected to the previously installed Battery Charger Regulator it didn't work. I still need to figure out about the engine charging the battery while...

Want to add solar to system with generator, shore & alternator (engine) charging

Well, I've discovered a bit more here. I went up top and saw that at one point there must have been solar up there. Ends up there is wiring still there, and the other end of it connects to the "Battery Charge Regulator" pictured above. This leaves me with a mystery, and a question: Mystery -...
