Calling all nomads in the East

I camped at the West Tower Hunt Camp on Sunday night (21st). After listening to the constant noise from the dogs and generator, I drove into the woods past the huge pot holes where I got a good nights sleep. The next morning as I was leaving I did notice the green box truck mentioned in post 98...

Is a Jackery ever the best solution?

So far I am happy with the Jackery 500. I am not a full time nomad and have minimal electrical needs. I just want to be able to recharge my laptop and when the weather gets warmer to run the roof fan.

    Naming of vans

I don't name my vehicles but if I did, I would name my Transit "Whitey Ford". The name would come from the song "Whitey Ford Sings the Blues" and not the baseball player. It is cold this morning and we have about an inch of snow on the ground so I am singing the blues this morning. The blues...

Sleeping on a cot - opinions?

I had an extra large cot from Cabelas in my 94 g20 Chevy van. The cot was very comfy but also very large. When I bought my current van, I did the usual 2x4, and plywood bed. It has a smaller footprint but more storage underneath. Good luck with your cot.

    Bikes

I travel with my bike on an exterior bike rack. I use a heavy cable lock to secure it to the rack. There have been a few times when I removed the front wheel to make the bike less desirable (quick release wheel takes about 15 seconds). Some bikes also come with a quick release seat post. If I...

    Overnight parking

I voted for Walmart. I have used them the most as they are everywhere. I have used CB only once and it was a good experience. I find the interstate rest area to be very hit or miss.
