One Old Man and A Cat Newbies

If you have an 8 foot bed you may want to look at a cap for the back. I've seen many nice set-ups that way. That will get you on the road cheap, and then look for a cargo trailer and convert it.

Picking a tow vehicle/field trip mobile...

Any 3/4 ton pickup with a gas V-8 can easily pull that trailer. It sounds like you will only tow it occasionally. Don't over think what you need as the trailer is not that big.

    Grape Solar?

This is a very accurate article, very few are out there that are based on fact as we currently know them. Thanks for posting.

    Grape Solar?

ValerieP, I own, use and recommend them. I called their Customer Service about possible ‘EMP’ damage, they were very helpful and spoke English! The panels are a good deal, and quality and performance are excellent. Here’s a link to my blog about 100-watt Grape Solar panels I use...

    Outdoor Storage Boxes

I recommend you add the 2-inch receiver hitch and a hitch carrier platform. Attaching to the doors will cause hinge and closing issues in the future. Also having the hitch is a plus because someday you may want to tow a boat or get a deal on a cargo trailer. So now you're all set.

Help! I have holes! How do I fix them?

What I do and have done is buy some aluminum flashing from the hardware store, cut it to cover the opening plus one inch and pop-rivet the aluminum in place. Use sealant all around the opening and you will have a lifetime fix. Look before you drill so you don't hit anything important.

    Need Nomad Life for Health

I suggest you look for a mini van as an entry level vehicle. There are many very reasonable in price 2-$3,000 range that have a lot of life left in them. I paid $3,000 for mine 4 years ago and have put only $350 in repairs so far.   In my 2004 Ford Freestar mini van, I have a platform for a bed...

Cast Iron, Aluminum, or stainless steel?

Aluminum typical camping gear cook set. Aluminum pizza pans for pizza, bread or cookies. Stainless for percolator (used on campfires)

    Need Nomad Life for Health

Sara, what kind of car do you have now? Have you tried sleeping in it yet?  I'd do that first then spend a few nights in a campground or WalMart and evaluate what works and what dosen't.  Mike

Denver new laws against over-nighting stealth

Stealth camping and even at Wal-Mart may now get you jail time. If traveling to Denver you may want to open the link and read it.   Denver's city government just lost some more of its marbles...

What would I need to do to enable my set-up to handle using a VitaMix?

Sounds like you will need a 2000 watt continuous/4000 watt surge inverter and possibly a pure sinewave capable one. Ask around if someone is using that size inverter in their rig and try to run it on theirs. This will let you know what you need without guessing. Although this mixer will draw...
