Where are you living at right now.

Thanks, bullfrog I did purpose a slight arch in the roof. I'm done with "wood and trim" build out and now working on energy. Planning on 3 panels on top, 2 LiFePo's in series, 24V1500w PSW, searching for best charge controller right now.

    Don't be this guy!

Good point bullfrog , I  almost got into a jam at BigBendNationalPark.  You neve know if the campsites will be full when you get their at certain times of year, so my backup plan was to zone camp. You are given a zone of your choice to camp in and must be at least 1/2 mile off the road. Tent...

Choose only one to have: house or car

Two of these were delivered down the street a year ago, they chose the plan with the porch inset on the side, they framed it out as 3 bedrooms / 1 bath. One came out very nice, haven't seen the other, they were both 16x50, that s 800 sqft! They put central air and heat in it but I think I would...

Choose only one to have: house or car

If I ever have to live  "exist" in a car,  something went seriously wrong in my life. It is something I would do if I was forced into that situation to survive day by day, like some have had to do, but its not lifestyle I set my goal in life to accomplish.

    Gadgets

Some of you new to camping and boon docking may not know about this little folding toaster rack. It works pretty good. Can be useful in the winter if you are already running a burner in the morning to knock the chill out or for making toast to go with your soup when ever. I have one and I like...

    Tire traction mats?

Yes, exactly, what good is a locker when your tires are spinning, they are just going to get deeper. I thought this thread was about traction mats but I am wrong, guess the Question was really should I make a $20 traction mat or go have expensive parts put in the rear end.

    Bye Bye tin cans????

OK, I have found what you have all been hinting around for but afraid to ask where to get it because I need it.... at the dollar store!!

Low wattage microwave or toaster oven?

After 11 years of technology advancement from the date this was posted, the question  still yields an answer of  no, their are not any low wattage appliances for these two applications.

    Tire traction mats?

Kyreg, I know your question is about the best store bought roll up or straight, but, I make my own. I take  scrap 5/8" ply wood and cut it to 2' x 1' (4 of them for me but 2 will work: 4WD) I then take a 1" hole saw and drill a hole HALFWAY through the ply wood on a 3" grid, if memory serves me...

Traveling to Quartzsite from the Southeast??

Totally agree with you on convoying with a group unless you are a diehard loner.  Less stressful worrying about a blowout, etc. It's fun, why be in such a hurry that if someone needs to stop and use the rest room it's the end of the world because "I didn't want to stop".  I would team up with...

    Thought I had.

I love the idea and have thought about it myself. Fifty acres in Texas somewhere and put some improvements on it;  power, water well,  septic system and community shower, etc.  Everybody pitch in $50 a month for maintenance. Pick up shopping list  stuff for others when your in town, etc...

    Group 27 deep cycle battery

Is that what was in it before and was it sufficient, then yes, do it. There is a ton of information needed for appropriate battery selection and sizing, unless the previous in-kind replacement battery worked fine and finally just got weak and died.

    Ok I’ve got it!!!

With that kind of talent, you will do well my friend.

    Bye Bye tin cans????

I'm with you vanbrat on cooking, my favorite part of road trips is preparing good meals, not just something to satisfy an appetite. I enjoy planning out the meals and figuring out optimal packaging, etc. I try to target the non can soups, etc. They now have squeeze bag refried beans that are...

Hi gang! New here. Eager to learn.

Can you target micro  breweries that have  out the door specialty beers canned or bottled and just take back to camp and enjoy so that their are no issues on the road.   I'm afraid it's going to be a numbers game of statistics if not.

Thinking of moving into a small car

Is there anyway you could buy something like a Dodge Caravan, SUV or equivalent, so that you can have some room, think about 2/3/4 days of straight nasty cold drizzly weather and all you can do is sit in the small car seat all day long, I would target some kind  of vehicle you can kind of stand...

    Luggable Loo

That's a lot of money, how about two buckets inside of each other for the extra height, plus I think the walls would be stronger. You would have a spare bucket for other scenarios if they arise.
