Luggable Loo

I know the Luggable Loo goes on a 5 gal bucket and lids are hard to remove from a 5 gal bucket.  Is the Luggable Loo top hard to remove like a regular 5 gal bucket lid?

Mine’s almost too easy but I’ve had it quite a while. Home Depot sells a tool that makes regular 5 gallon bucket lids easier to get off as well as screw on gamma type lids.

No the luggable Lou does not seal as well and is therefore easier to get off. Causing you to have to store whatever you did in the pot in a better sealed container if you are going to have to store for any amount of time. One of my problems with pooping in a 5 gallon bucket is that 5 gallon buckets round. I know I’m ecentric but a square  object butts (no pun intended)up against another square container therefore losing no space. But they don’t make a luggable Lou square. Of course what I had to put on it isn’t square either. But think about it all these years round jars in the refrigerator round containers in the cupboard if they were all square almost twice as much in there and when you’re living in a 6 x 12 space and When everything you own is in that space it makes a big difference.  I Made my own party with storage underneath. I use a 5 quart ice cream container on the first shelf to catch the you know what.  My ice cream container says family size does that refer to the container or to what you put in it or who puts it in. I have never filled a 5 quart so I don’t think 5 gallons would be necessary. When I did have a luggable Lou in the last van I put the smaller container inside it on top of a a circular shaped board held up by a central post. This Gave space for extra toilet paper and cleaning supplies.

Well, you don't have to pry it up with a screwdriver every time you use it, so no.

The seat snaps on like the lid of a high qualiy "tupperware" food container does. Seems reasonably secure without being too tight to me. A younger kid might have problems with it.

I guess my question should have really been:  If I'm using the Luggable Loo with bag when I poop is it going to be a bear removing the Luggable Loo to get the bag in/out each time.

It hasn’t been a problem for me although it would depend somewhat on the thickness of the bag. The plastic is fairly thin and somewhat flexible.

Our Luggable Loo finally got kicked off Van Island.  It took up too much room, even with a smaller bucket inside on top of other storage.  The lid was easy enough to get off, but the cover wouldn't stay down.  The bucket split, making it useless for anything else.

If you are a little skilled and want to do about an hours worth of work!,,,,,,I didn't like popping the lid off every time you want to line the bucket, little things like that set my "this needs improvement wheels in action" so. I cut an 8" piece of 2x4 white pine and contoured it with a jig saw to meet the contour of the top of the new Walmart bucket.  ($3) So,  you will cut from 1 corner to the other, same side,   a round arc cutting around 2 inches into the 2x4. Mount this to the bucket flush at the top with screws from the inside of the bucket out. Paint it the same color of the buckets so that it looks nice. Now buy the Walmart padded seat/lid [font=Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, sans-serif]($10)  [/font]and mount to the 2x4. The 2x4 is simply there to hold the lid 's hinge in place. The lid folds up against the wall for relining and use. The padded seat is also my ottoman now when folded down. Now this is not necessary, but, I didn't like the unstableness of just the bucket so I cut a 12"x12" piece of 3/4" plywood and covered with some thick nice looking fabric, I centered  and attached  the  bucket to this with wood screws and fender washers.  I know, "someone has to much time on their hands". But, I don't watch any pro sports.

 I didn't like the unstableness of just the bucket

I was wondering how many folks felt this way. At 185 pounds I also dont feel so great sitting on a bucket with a flimsy plastic seat.

I am trying to  use an old chair to assist.

The chair cushion seat does remove and a 5 gal bucket comes right up to the top. There is about an inch remaining so I  am going to try to hinge a toilet seat to the chair frame today.  and this will put it just about right.. I hope.

When I drove a semi I had a hardwood box with a hinged lid that a 5 gallon bucket set inside below a hole and regular toilet seat. I put a magazine rack on the side of it. It had a lid that covered the top and toilet seat I used as a desk or pillow top stool. You can stabilize and raise up a 5 gallon bucket with a water bottle transport crate or keep low with a milk crate.

I use 12 gal trash bags and I double bag it, I add some cat litter to bottom to handle the smell.

I use the 12 gal bags because my trash can uses them and I only have to carry one size bag.

This bucket is much easier to sit on, it sits higher than the 5 gal bucket. I'm 6' foot tall, and I find this to be more comfortable

It seems the 7 gal bucket uses the same tops as the 5 gal buckets. The 7 gal bucket is 19.6 inches tall.

I don't know if I am to late to this party but I've got a bucket with the bags and a nice lid and seat. I put that into one of those cubed storage ottomans. Its heavy ( won't tip), and serves as a seat when not in use! Always discreet too. Love it.

That's a lot of money, how about two buckets inside of each other for the extra height, plus I think the walls would be stronger. You would have a spare bucket for other scenarios if they arise.
