Dutch Oven on a Butane camp stove?

I also use my dutch oven with legs on my rv stove-it fits in perfectly level. Wish it wasn't so bloody heavy.

Extended 2018 Chevy Express or 2013 Nissan NV 2500? Can't decide.

With the two of us, the high roof is essential-trying to get around each other bent over wouldn't work, especially since both of us have significant arthritis in our necks and backs. There's a lot to be said making coffee and food standing straight up, too. Since we put the passenger seat on a...

    Nissan NV 3500

If you haven't already been there, there is a Nissan NV owners forum with plenty of info on conversons: nissannvforum.com. There's also a Nissan NV group on Facebook, you have to register for it. Ted

    Nice Tiny House

The one we're working on is on skids and can be moved anywhere a truck can go. Right now it's at an rv park. Eventually we'll sell the trailer as we've found that the van is much easier to travel in. It's funny that we never would have considered something like this except for the coronavirus...

    Getting Rid Of Fleas

I second (or third or fourth) the borax method. I've been using it with good results since the 70s every time animals have brought fleas inside. Sprinkle on any carpet or cloth surfaces for a day or two around then vacuum it up. Ted

Why is there so much confusing info regarding covid19?

"I read an article stating that a more virulent strain infected the US and parts of Europe. It was identified as a genetically mutated strain. -crofter" Maybe that why Hubby's and my cases were so easy since he probably picked the virus in Japan. Whoda thought there would be an advantage?

Can someone suggest the right fire extinguisher for a van?

I don't worry about the specific types. I have three of them, one three (or two?) pounder tucked into driver side door pocket. Another mounted right inside the sliding door and a five pounder right inside the back door. I think being able to access the one(s) you have is the most important...

    Is it open?

Some New Mexico State Parks are open for day use only. No word on camping at this point. Ted

what are you doing while under lockdown?

If we didn't live in BFE, I would probably volunteer to do that.  I donated blood regularly for years. There's a lab 20 miles from me, but the closest blood bank is an hour+ away.  In any case, the antibody test is not accurate enough yet-too many vendors, no quality control and no oversight. ...

what are you doing while under lockdown?

Since we're stuck in place, we've been working on our future 10' x 16' tiny house. It is currently mostly used for storage, but we already have a sink, a/c, fridge and small soaking tub in it. We've been staying in the trailer in an RV park here in NM for the duration. Eventually we'll sell...

    Domestic travel potentially curtailed/forbidden?

Just an update. #2 son thought he was done with it, but it hit him again today with overwhelming fatigue to where he's stuck in bed again.  He's on day 10. Aft least the cough is no longer awful. We went to Home Depot in Las Cruces  today. It was kinda slow. Lowe's was busy.  It's a pain to go...

    Domestic travel potentially curtailed/forbidden?

Just got finished with a 2 week self quarantine tonight (Hubby was in Japan for a month plus) and now that we're free to gallivant, everything is closed! They closed down the New Mexico State Parks for overnight camping and then they shut them down completely on Monday. Can't even go kayaking...

    Is your CO alarm working?

I figure when my time is up, it's up. Ive earned the right to say "eff it!".I grew up in Miami/Ft.Lauderdale and then Phoenix/ Tucson and absolutely cannot abide cold. Today everyone was walking around from shirtsleeves to a sweater and I'm in my puffy down coat. It was 32F this morning when I...

    Is your CO alarm working?

Ours is. It just went off and was up to 93ppm. Someone (I wish I could say "Not me!") didn't open the overhead vent enough tonight.... we've got the Wave 3 heater going as it has been running every night for weeks.  Nice to know it works. Ted

    Nissan NV vandwellers

We have two high top Nissan NVs, 8 cylinders, a NV2500 and NV3500. We don't know how we could spend a months at a time in a low top as we both have back and neck issues. It's nice to have eight cylinders. The NV2500 is a 2017 with the 7 speed transmission and different torque on the engine...

    RYO tobacco near Quartzsite

I was at the Big Market in Quartzite two days ago and i noticed that they had a giant bag of loose pipe tobacco. I imagine that they would have ryo there, too. But you could call them to check it out. Ted

Here at Quartzsite LTVA Nissan NV3500 conversion $33K

We're just a little beyond (543 steps) the entrance station at La Posa South LTVA-you can see the two vans together. 2016 Nissan NV3500HD SL (top of the line except for no leather seats) with 27,000 (90+% highway)miles.  20 months and 73,000 miles remaining on original (5yr/100,00mile)...

Have cargo van, want to add a TT. Advice?

We have Nissan NVs 2500/3500 (8 cylinder). We pull a 5000# trailer. The van is the second bedroom. But we have found out that it's easier to travel in the van while using the trailer as home base. After a year+ of having to move every two weeks, that got old, as did having to dump the tanks...

    Stealth spots in Yuma (AZ)?

Slept like a baby last night at the hospital-to the sounds of the air evac helicopters. Will find a better place today. Ted

Going to a RWD van from 4WD

I don't have any experience with a four wheel drive van, but the Nissans NVs are RWD with a limited slip differential-not as good as a locker. The only time one has been stuck is when Hubby decided to follow a sandy ATV trail (he kept thinking that it would get better-silly man!) He just...
