    ANTS!!!

Whew! Glad I survived Nicaragua without meeting a Bullet Ant!!! Stomach bugs and bedbugs, yes, but no violent ants!  :D

    the whole truth

Welcome from another relative newbie, Sassenach! This seems like a supportive community who will help in any way they can. I empathize with your 'challenges'; I have a chronic illness and have suffered from depression and anxiety my whole life. It's true that immersing yourself in Nature is the...

    Hello- going mobile!

Welcome! We were in the same position last year but had a whole house, barn, workshop, and outbuildings to empty and sell or give away. The deadline of 6 weeks for the house sale was my motivation to get it done! LOL Luckily our 24 ft RV was sitting in the driveway so I could gradually add all...

    ANTS!!!

Thankfully they're just regular little brown ants. We're in Ontario, Canada so no fire ants!

    ANTS!!!

I believe you about MINT! I tried the peppermint oil, soap, and water spray and the ants have been reduced by 80-90%! Amazing! There's actually wild mint growing about 50 feet from our rig. Maybe I can transplant some.  ;)

    ANTS!!!

I like this idea. I have both peppermint and tea tree oils. Thanks.

    ANTS!!!

Thank you all so much!!! Because our rig is small, the ants are now EVERYWHERE! It all happened in 2 days. I think I'll try the Borax......Terro. Sounds effective! I really don't want to leave sugar down because it might just lure them all inside. We may have to move the RV away from the...

    ANTS!!!

Help! We have ants!!! Our rig is stationary for 6 months and we seem to be sitting on an ant hill. So far they're just in the bathroom; I've tracked them to the electrical cord which enters the RV underneath there.  So far I've tried vinegar and cinnamon. I have an autoimmune disease and can't...

Gardening and herbs on the go.

I haven't read the whole thread but I just wanted to add that it's easy to grow a few veggies in pots. I'm growing Romaine lettuce, spinach, arugula, and herbs in pots. They keep on giving as I harvest and plant more seeds plus I know they're organic. I also have one cherry tomato plant that I'm...

    Meditation

Another meditator here! Several years ago I was fortunate enough to do a retreat at Blue Cliff Monastery in NYS with Thich Nhat Hanh. The peace, serenity, and compassion emanating from him was astounding. We did sitting meditation, walking meditation, and listened to his talks, which were...

    Hot Cupboards

Well, we did the Reflectix in the overhead cupboards. Reflectix plus 2 sided tape. It seems to have helped tremendously! We might double up on the back wall but so far so good.  Reflectix is expensive but so effective, easy to use, and long-lasting. Worth the investment.

    The Future of Microwaves

The microwave in our C Class is also a convection oven. I love it! I can bake in it and cook veggie pizza. I use the microwave to thaw berries for oatmeal, cook 'puffy' eggs, cook frozen veggies, and heat up leftovers. (And making extra for leftovers is energy efficient, power wise and mine!  :P )

    Hot Cupboards

I do open the cupboard doors when the sun comes around to that side. The window below the cupboards has a sun blocking blind as well as a regular blind. I hear you on the vitamins. I know it sounds easy to move things around but these 3 cupboards are our main storage space for food. Otherwise I...

    Health/Illness/Chronic Diseases

Isn't that the truth?!  :( My diet is quite limited and sometimes I just want to eat what I used to eat or have a treat, but every time I do, I have a flare. It's just not worth it. Quality of life depends on being healthy and healthy means hard work and vigilance.....so be it!

    Anybody solo with Fibromyalgia?

I don't have FM but I do have an auto-immune disease. I started another thread about Health/Illness/Chronic Disease. Generally life on the road is more active and a healthier lifestyle, don't you think? The smaller the space you have, the more you're outside and moving in the fresh air. My...

    Health/Illness/Chronic Diseases

I'm a newbie, both RVing and here on the forums. I don't see any threads about either staying healthy or living with a chronic illness. I am both: healthy and live with a chronic illness.   I've always looked after myself, exercising, staying fit and slim, eating a vegetarian diet...

    Hello from a Newbie!

Oh, do come up to Canada! Both the east and west coasts especially are amazing! Like the US it's a darn big country to explore.   :)

    Hot Cupboards

Thanks! Gee, a big, expensive Class A has the same problem?! So we'll try the Reflectix and see if that helps. I almost want to tape it to the outside of the RV too!  :P

    Hot Cupboards

That's another bonus of boondocking, isn't it? When you're sitting on a campground site like we are for the summer, you have no choice.
