Advice and Information for Tent Nomad

There was a storm last winter that scared me almost to death. I was worried my cargo trailer was going to blow over! What stuff that was out side I had to search almost to Ehrenburg for it the next morning, including ice chest, and rugs. This year I will have a wind meter just so I know how...

    Which weight of sleeping bag?

I'm kind of surprised that you guys are all fancy in your special sleeping bags. I sleep in a bed with sheets and blankets. If it's cold I wear a hat, gloves, socks made from natural fibers, and maybe some extra covers. If seriously cold the dog helps keep me warm. Haha. ;-)

How to Live on 100 watts of Solar

You don't miss what you don't have. I traveled for several years with 100 watts, and felt great about it. I was thrilled to be able to run a CPAP at night(no heat), charge a cell phone, and small LED Christmas lights. I didn't have refrigeration, just bought fresh and foods that kept at room...

    Heading to Quartzsite!

I'm from Oregon also. Roseburg area. NOT sure when I will be heading south this year, and I hope us Pacific Northwest folks don't have to dash through storms like last year. After the RTR, some of us move about 11 miles west to Erhenburg to enjoy the dessert. This is not in a park, just in a...

Love Mark Twain! Have you read 1601, by Mark Twain? I went to Hanible, Missori and took the delightful trolley ride around his town. Ate at the Becky Thatcher Diner, and saw where the caves are. Just below the town is "lovers leap" and a great view of the Mississipi. I followed the road that...

    Ticks and fleas

I keep alcohol in a spray bottle for squitos and flies. For creepy crawlers I buy cedar oil and dilute it 10% cedar oil and 90% alcohol.  I spray both of these on my pets and me and all over my cargo trailer.  We have been under control for 3 years and smell great! Home depot sell pints of cedar...

Solo Women - How do you travel

I didn't have the luxury to pick and plan, so I had a truck and cargo trailer and the 2 have been great for travel in the last 5 years. I'm stealth and can rearrange daily. And I don't have to worry about depreciation Yes it would be nice to not have to get out to get into the trailer, but...

What is your favorite thing you took from the "free pile"?

For the folks at the RTR, or in Ehrenburg that visited the free pile.   What was your favorite thing that you took and use? Thanks to whom ever put the blue thermos out!  I use it everyday.  In the morning it gets filled with fresh brewed coffee or boiling water.  So easy as the day goes to have...
