A lot of places where I camp/park I have planted a lot of stuff thats edible. A bit of Guerrilla Gardening if you will. You never know when its going to come in handy or when your going to really need it.

Every year as the season starts to wind down, I will hit Lowe's...

    Graveyard Shift?

There is a lot to be said for what DazarGaiden posted.

Been working the Grave Yard shift for most of the last 30 years and love it. Sleeping in the day can be a bit of a challenge due to the day light and the noise around you. Sometimes no matter how quiet it is around you...

    Inexpensive Water Container

Humm. That kinda neat. I have always just used the 7 gallon Coleman water containers that you can buy at Wally World (Walmart) for about 7-10 bucks with the water spigot on it. Its cheap, extremely compact, well shaped for easy storage, holds a couple of extra gallons and works...

    What Are The Consequences?

I will echo the post by Pikachu711. Most Security Guards dont get paid enough to care and will only do what they "have" to do to stay out of hot water with the client or the boss. Be cool about it and most will return the courtesy. In fact they just might tell you where you can...

Prepping for SHTF stuff and traveling

Funny you say that...I didnt know how to even sail a sailing dingy much less a 37 foot boat when I bought it, ha ha ha. I was just thinking beach front condo when I got it. Didnt take long for the folks frequenting the marina to learn me the ropes.

I can certianly relate to that. You know what they say...Happy Wife = Happy Life! Id have a pretty tough time letting go of 1400 plus myself. That being the case have you thought about building one? A pretty nice gun could be easily assembled from parts...

    What do I carry...

I carry a Colt Series 70 5" barrel 1911 on and off duty. On duty my "Wonder Woman" belt is a Bianchi Accu-Mold with all of the appropriate accessories except the magic lasso. Off duty, I use a SOB holster and keep a couple of Bill Wilson Combat 8...

Prepping for SHTF stuff and traveling

Well your in good company...Im a prepper too! Not much of a doomsdayer but I like to be more self suffcient and a bit more prepared than the average person so I can weather hard times a little easier and none the less for wear and tear.

Dont knock the boat idea. Except for...

What is your opinion on diesel engines verses gas engines? I know nothing about diesels and am intimidated by them.

I think diesels are best used in applications where you need high amount of torque and need it at lower RMP's. In a P/U truck (one thats actually used for work and not one driven around in to look cool) where your hauling or towing diesel is way more economical than a gas engine.
<br...

Who has been car-van-rv living for two plus years?

Retired military vet here living in a 22ft 5th wheel since 2006. My "life style" is calling for something 5-8 feet longer though and hopefully in a couple of years I can make that happen. While I was still active duty I spent 7 years as a live aboard on my 37ft sloop rigged Lancer...

    Oriental Grocery Store Cheat Sheet??

You can google recipes on the internet as well and easily duplicate them most of the time. Most are really easy and straight forward. Most recipes are pretty flexible as well as you dont have to be brand specific.

For stir fry sauce you can usually make you own...

    Keeping Warm

Wally World sells a 200 watt space heater that doesnt use much power, doesnt get hot enough to cause a fire hazard but should be able to knock the chill off the interior of a JGC. It cost about 12.00 fun dollars and could be ran off a inverter plugged into your cigarette lighter or...

    bicycle battery charger

Honestly I would go with a 3 1/2-6 hp Briggs and Stratton lawnmower enjine in conjunction with a alternator (special type I can provide the link later) would be a lot better of an option and take up a lot less space. This set up could quickly charge a couple of 8D 12v Batteries on a...

    Tasty, Easy Stir Fry

Im with VGJ1977...you just gotta add a splash of sesame oil to the dish!!!

Stir fry dishes are one of my favorites and probably one of the most flexible meals one can prepare. Its a one pan dish that you can make from just about any available produce and meat. Takes mere...

    Whats the biggest battery....

Im with Sparky on this one. I think an 8D battery is about as big as you want to go and humping one aint no joke! I have 4 that are easy to access on my 37ft boat and I DO NOT look forward to replacing one of them...

    Re-using 2 liter bottles

Skooky stole some of my thunder! I have seen these used in the Philipenes. I personally store rice, sugar, salt, beans, dried herbs from the garden just to name a few things that I store in 20 ounce to 3L soda bottles. I have also discovered that a 550 round box of 22 Long...

    Technical firearm thread

Thats a really tough call to make. The 40 S&W is more of a personal defense round specifically designed for use against 2 legged predators vs a large wild animal. A 500 lbs plus Black Bear is a trophy class animal for a Black Bear and not too many reach that size in most areas...

    Bus versus Step Van..opinions?

Both seem to be pretty rugged vehicles from what I have seen in military service. The step van would definitely have the advantage in no uncertian terms for stealth living for sure. Its going to be really tough to fly under the radar in a schoolie. The Bus however will come in...
