stove thread

    mad*sparrow

This is a tad off-topic, , but here's another electricity generating pot from my favorite survival guys. This one is a 2 Quart pot that can go on top of your own stove. I'd...

    Hi karl,

Not too many on CL around here. Don't know why, because I'm surrounded by worker bees. N FL economy is so bad, tho, that I think everything that could be ripped up or out and sold already has been for most folks.

JOSEPHINE UPDATE:
<br...

Sizing a battery and solar panel system for a car

    Tara,

I missed that blog post, thanks for the heads up!

Tell me about your Mifi device. Mobile hot spot? Do you like yours and what are you using, etc.... If you've already commented about that, would you post a link?

Trying just now to think about...

    Re-using...blankets?

    No doubt!

And if it's ripped and holey, make a quilt out of it, and give it away. There are lots of quilt circles who make blankets for returning and wounded warriors, or victims of domestic...

New Beginnings in a 1995 Chevy Van

I've just read the thread and hope to hear more from you, Katie. I'm also just now getting rid of everything and leaving my relationship and living situation. Your posts are honest and inspiring, thank you. I hope all is well with you and that vanliving agrees with you and you...

There are acouple sleepers in here...sidecars big enough to lay down in.

I'm not sure so much about the military sidecars, but I could sure go for one of those huge machine guns on the roof of my van. That would let folks know not to mess with me. Not too stealthy, tho.....

Thanks for a really interesting post/link!

Oil Lamps for Lighting (& Minor Heating!)

Indeed! Although we never had problems with our critters as they stayed on ground level. If you have cats, a good idea is to hang the lamp with the hooks provided for that, or if you have a nice antique, there are tons of setups to mount it nicely to the wall, along with...

    Home Baked Bread

    Hi Scarlett,

This is one of the best burner/oven combo's that I've found. The stove output is 10,500 BTU which is quite a lot of heat, even good enough for canning. The oven is much better than most camping ovens in that it is very sealed in the body, so that the temp is...

UPDATE: Adding a goal, and adjusting one, to the list for Nov.

Step three was going to a junkyard for a ladder rack. After doing some research, it turns out that it is easier and not much more expensive to order a rack new online.

Step...

Oil Lamps for Lighting (& Minor Heating!)

Hi Pikachu, glad you got something from that. I just prefer kero or as the English say 'oil' to more explosive fuels like propane, etc. My own thing, I freely admit. But it is true that a...

Thanks, Bruce! I'm considering a mural, but can't decide if I like the idea of Renaissance cherubs smiling down at me from the roof. What do you think?

    UPDATE:

Josephine is at the van vet's today. He's really good, bless his heart. So far he has confirmed that there is nothing major wrong with her, and that she will need some minor break repairs, an oil change and a tune up. Not bad for an 18 year old van and $1500...
