    What size inverter?

There are also low Watt hairdryers (1000W instead of 1800W).  Amazon sells a few.   Low Watt hairdryers for animals can use as little as 650 Watts.   I'm not sure how well they work.  They get mixed reviews on Amazon...

Is sex allowed at RTR/BLM/Walmart/RestStops/Truckstops? (inside your rig of course)

Yes, they're called "Lot Lizards". If you have Amazon Prime (streaming videos / movies), there's a pretty depressing documentary by the same name.  :s Actual title: Lot Lizard.

Is sex allowed at RTR/BLM/Walmart/RestStops/Truckstops? (inside your rig of course)

Ask your RTR neighbors if they mind.  Or just tell them " If the house is a rockin', don't come a knockin' "

    What size inverter?

Everything I've read, both here and on various websites, including Apple's, suggests that it's not a good idea to charge sensitive electronics, like a Mac, with one of those inexpensive Acc / cigarette outlet-powered chargers.  Something to do with potentially screwing up the power brick and...

Oops, I didn't notice the original date of this thread (2014).  Me thinks the OP has found a solution by now.   :P

My inverter makes a whining sound when I turn it off

Thanks, a capacitor was more along the lines of what I was thinking.  The fan only comes on if the unit get hot.   This noise happens every time I turn it off, even if I've only flipped the switch on for a second.   No, I haven't tried it with a load, but I'll do that, thanks.

My inverter makes a whining sound when I turn it off

Is this normal, or should I be worried?   The noise, like a whine that trails off (less than 2 seconds) only happens when I power off the inverter.  "WHEEEEeeeeeee".   :s Other than the noise, it seems to be working just fine.

    car curtains

I used indoor/outdoor carpet I picked up at Home Depot and secured it to the frames around the windows with adhesive-backed Velcro.   Because the carpet is fibrous, you only need to use the "Hook" side of the Velcro on the window frame.  The carpet acts like the "Loop" side.   Cut the carpet to...

    CC remote meter question

Thanks for all the replies, everyone.  I can honestly say I understood about 5% of what was suggested.  :P Here's what I've got, and it ain't much: One, puny 75 Ah AGM battery under the hood of my van (connected to the alternator), and a single, 190 Watt monocrystalline panel.  Between the...

    CC remote meter question

I'd like to install a remote meter on my MorningStar SS-MPPT-15L charge controller to keep track of what's going into \ coming out of my battery and panel.   Do I have to run a meter made by MorningStar, specifically designed for my model, or can I just pick any meter I want? (I don't know if...

    Shotgun Load For Lion?

I recommend bear spray.  You're a lot more likely to hit a fast moving cat that's sprinting towards you that way.   Plus, it's a lot lighter weight than a shotgun and can be clipped to your belt. But just to stay on topic and not get flamed, I'd say 00 or 000 would be fine.  Maybe even...

Solar help needed at the RTR

Wow, scary.  Those people who believe the vapor trails from high-flying aircraft are actually some sort of secret government plot to seed the air with mind controlling chemicals, don't, IMHO, have both oars in the water.   The moment someone says, in all seriousness, "Chemtrails", they lose all...

2018 Chevy Express - any questions?

Yeah, Ive been wondering that too.  It would be nice to see them come out with a factory high-top model. I had hoped it might happen this year....  Guess not..

    Legalities of residency

I've often wondered about the property "loophole" myself, though I thought I heard you had to have a house or permanent dwelling of a certain size to qualify it as your residency. That parking your RV / camper on the land was illegal. Sure would be nice if it worked, but I have my doubts...

Can I run my inverter off my charge controller?

I ended up running it off the 12V terminals on the CC (not the Load terminals).  Seems to be working well.  Thanks again for all the help.  Funny, but now that it's done it's seem really simple.  :P No matter what I tried, there was no room for it on the wall near the CC.  This...

Can I run my inverter off my charge controller?

Thanks, I hadn't thought about it that way.  I was under the impression that having a fuse at each and every component was considered a good idea.   As I've said before, though, if it's safe to run it off my Acc. outlet and it's 15A fuse, or the Alligator clips off the battery, which has no...

Ford Transit Connect Sky Box HELP!!

I'm not sure what this means.  Yakima makes TC specific towers that mount to the hard-points on the roof, then you simply slide your crossbars through the towers.   Could you elaborate a bit on what exactly it is you're using and what the problem is you're having with it?

Oh well, maybe next year. ....

I was hoping to make it too, but sadly it doesn't look like 2018 is going to be the year.   With it getting more and more crowded and all the posts/reports of @ssholes making too much noise, blasting stereos and running generators all through the night, I hope this won't be the last year for...

Can I run my inverter off my charge controller?

I just took another look a the photo.  You're right, it is a confusing angle..  I was laying on my back, below it, when I took the shot.   The CC is mounted to the wall, just above the left-rear fender well.  I put some coupling nuts behind it to space it off the wall a little.   I'm going to...

    Drove into a dust storm...

Better yet, just pull over, shut off the engine so you don't suck the dust in, and wait for it to pass.
