    Real non stick pans

I've had a couple of the new non stick ceramic pans. Can't say they lived up to the advertising. Definitely not a true non stick pan.  A well seasoned cast iron skillet does a much better job.

Two people on $15 a day

I gotta agree about protein intake being necessary.   40 grams per day is considered minimal. A great book to read up on this is by Dr Gary Null and is called The Ultimate Anti-aging Program. Also discussed is how to get benefits from juicing.  Being vegetarian does not mean giving up essential...

    Solar Oven good deal

I've heard good things about solar ovens but have never seen or used one. What are they made out of that makes them so expensive?

    Yummy instant potato find

Good stuff!  I have also purchased some good MRE mashed potatoes from Emergency Essentials. Just heat and eat the individual pouches.

    Today I'm kicking the hornet's nest :)

I was not saying that this forum is unhealthy.  I was pointing out that communication is often misunderstood.  Also, I choose to walk away from situations that I think are unhealthy.

    Today I'm kicking the hornet's nest :)

Richard...I'm aware that some people have a built in super sense of entitlement in both language and actions and I tend to think that child-rearing has much to do with it.  We are products of our environment.  You asked how we draw the line.  I can't answer for you but as for me I simply walk...

    Today I'm kicking the hornet's nest :)

Ok young lady...you owe me a gold star   A good rant does the soul good.    I've found that most people just speak the way they were taught or are accustomed to speaking without having any malice at heart.  Just their normal conversation pattern.  I've also found that age plays a major part of...

    Tuna recall

I've been hearing about the Mercury for many years but in spite of that I still eat a can or two of albacore a couple of times a month. I'm especially happy to enjoy a good tuna steak now and then. It is still much better than drinking the water in Flint, Michigan.

4.5# propane tank vs 1# green bottles

Lots of us OLDER folks use the number sign, or the Old Cat symbol as it used to be called, as a sign of measure but not always as the youth of today would like. We just wait for them to correct our grammar and put us in our proper place. Just a sign of the ever changing times.

    Tuna recall

I also use Bumble Bee tuna and called the co about the recall. Mine was not on the list either.  I buy the Albacore tuna because I like it much better than what is labeled either light meat or dark meat tuna.  I also like the individual tuna and cracker snacks.

4.5# propane tank vs 1# green bottles

Currently the 1# green canister is pushing $3.00 in my area.  My small Mr Heater can use up one in about 6 hrs of continued use.  That's 3-4 bottles per day. My 20# bottle currently costs $15.00 to refill. I too like the small bottles for convenience but the cost long term is just too much for...

    No Refrigeration MEALs for One

I got sick from bad mayo once and that was enough.  Now it stays in the refrigerator unless I'm using it.

    No Refrigeration MEALs for One

Many dehydrated items can be purchased at restaurant supply companies.  I like the dehydrated hash brown potatoes and refried beans especially. Coffee Tim

    corned beef

The other day I diced up a cold hunk of pork roast and diced up a couple of potatoes, added some spices, and made hash out of it. Browned it up and topped it with a dip'n egg. Pretty darn tasty!

    Getting VA health care

Hi John     I think you can go to any urgent care and explain that you are traveling on vacation and need your meds refilled.  You can call your primary care for instructions if you need to.

    Keeping Cool

Looks like a great idea when in an area where you can use a swamp cooler.
