    Station Wagon Dwelling Noobie

Aloha! I'm very new to living in my station wagon (a few days in), and I am really liking it so far. I'm fortunate enough to be doing this by choice, but I am definitely not super well off either. About mid way through June, after watching hours and hours of van dwelling videos on youtube, I...

    Cool stealth camping article

When you have a rig that expensive and nice noone is going to think you are a threat to the neighborhood.

Whats the best way to attach a flexible Solar panel to a van Roof?

This YouTube couple used industrial strength velcro (apparently recomended by Renogy)

    Charge auxiliary battery without isolator?

That is an interesting setup Oberneldon, and I would definitely pursue it if I were traveling. However, I only spend on average 30 minutes per day driving so I'm not sure that its worth the investment. Solar is looking like my best solution, and I think I may be able to scratch up enough for...

    Make it ‘Fit’ (Honda Fit)

I have already tried this myself.  My car cover is loosely fitted, semi-breathable, and decently reflective.  There is good air circulation with the windows down, and moderate circulation with them cracked.  It is MUCH cooler than not having a cover if the sun is out.   That being said, if you...

Will be "Car-Dwelling" Soon in Tucson, AZ

You make a point, John, that my wording was careless. There is no guarantee it will work and everyone should take advice given by me with a grain of salt as I have less personal experience than many. During my hours of research however I found this advise to be useful as no one really talks...

    Charge auxiliary battery without isolator?

Ok, plot twist. The AGM battery I was planning on getting was not up to par voltage. I decided to go with a 32aH gel battery instead. I've heard gel's need a more regulated voltage during charging. Is charging through my car battery still viable?

    Charge auxiliary battery without isolator?

Oops, one more question!  Should I fuse the wires?

    Charge auxiliary battery without isolator?

Thanks a lot Bob, and everyone else.  Gonna take your suggestion with the on/off switch and some 4 gauge.  I plan on using this as a supplemental charge whenever I happen to be driving somewhere.   Gonna run the wire through the firewall to the passenger side; no wires through the windows for...

    Make it ‘Fit’ (Honda Fit)

I'm surprised noone has mentioned this.   Use a car cover for stealth.  You could probably find a nice custom "Fit"ted one.   Having a newer car is a big advantage as noone will question your motive for covering your car. It will allow you to park in safer locations (lighted areas; near other...

    $3,000-$4,000

Ideally I would like a 91-97 Toyota Previa.  They run well, are gas efficient, and have more usable space than any other minivan. 94-97 Honda accord wagons, and 92-96 Toyota wagons are reliable car options you might consider.

Will be "Car-Dwelling" Soon in Tucson, AZ

I'm in a similar situation (about to live in car in hot environment). I plan on using a car cover for stealth. It will allow me to park in safer locations (lighted areas; near other parked cars). I have scouted about 6 or 7 good parking spots, with little car or foot traffic, where I can slip...

    Charge auxiliary battery without isolator?

Hello!  I'm new here. I'm planning on getting a 40aH AGM wheelchair battery to use as an auxiliary battery in my car/home.   Do I need to install a battery isolator?  Or can I simply hook up some cables directly to my car battery and clamp them onto the auxillary battery after my car is...

A Wise Crow, and a honeybee

Haha very romantic story. I remember being in the line up once when a girl next to me saw a bee struggling in the water. She let it climb on to her finger, and it stayed there for about 3 seconds before stinging her and flying off to its inevitable death. The pain was so bad for her that she...
