Yeah; next to air it’s sorta like of the utmost importance……..

Ok there’s a myriad number of places to get free water and I personally know of many spots across Murahka that I have used in my travels but today I ran across 1 less……..

I’ve been getting water from this faucet for I’ll bet 10 years now, maybe longer and just did on my way South in November. Vehicle dwellers been using it forever as I’ve been to this place often enuff to witness I’m not the only 1. Annoying to say the least but I know of another faucet tuckt away in a bush hedge less than 200 yards away and No Lock On It! and jonny boi used that 1.

Yet another reason for park passes, never been a problem to get water at a park even though it might require trips with a container. Heck I even got free ice where I was nobody likes smelly fish! Lol!!!

This faucet is in a park that every1 paid 4. Federal & State funds.
There's NO Free lunch......................Somebody pays for that
Yeah and those who paid should get to use it; especially since it’s been available for ever until apparently the last cupl months.

The 1 I used less than 200 yards away is in the same park. 😎

So ... water is still available inside the park at a nearby location ... and the problem is?
I might be curious what caused the change, but it wouldn't get too high on my "(F#%KING A#%H0LS)" list ... lotta competition for space on that list.

The only faucets I have ever seen locked off are ones that visitors left running continuously or had been shut off for maintenance to prevent water loss and hydraulic hammering when water pressure was restored, but you know things happen! Lol!!!

Yup... Do you drink that water?

My 2 week resupply is about 8 gallons of drinking water, and 5 for washing. I used to look for free spigots for wash water, but I've always done RO for drinking... which is 50 cents/gal a lot of places now.

In Yuma they have a "Salt Free Drinking Water" station that is only 10 cents per gallon which is plenty close to "free" considering how convenient it is (near the best Wally), and you can park right next to it, it has a hose, and it's very fast. I was suspicious of it since they provide no clues regarding whether it's purified in any fashion, but I figure it's just tap water that's put through a salt-free softener or something. Whatever they do gets rid of chlorine... it's tasteless anyway, and it didn't kill me, so...

Saw one in Parker too, but it was 20 cents...

I always filter drinking/cooking water thru my Berkey no matter the source. Wash water from unknown sources goes through a cheap Camco filter to keep the big stuff out of the plumbing as well. Just for fun I used to tie a white wash rag on the hydrant when I filled jugs it would be brown and had sediment after about 100 gallons had gone thru it.

You would be surprised what they dumped in the swamps down here thru the years, Florida water sucks. We NEVER drink tap or ice without high end filters. I could tell you stories that would make your skin crawl.

Grew up in Michigan drinkin that water after 150 years of industrial pollution and surrounded by superfund sites.

been all around the (and I ain’t tawkin tourist trips) drinkin water everywhere under all conditions. Still kikin good immune system; the whites of my eyes haven’t turned yellow or green yet and I don’t need prune juice.

Sometimes I might have a slight phosphorous glow but you’ll only notice it on a very dark night and if I’m mostly naked. 🤙

jonny boi just sayin

My guess is some kids might have turned that faucet on for a drink and just left it gushing...but who really knows except the person who put the lock on it.

The little burg where I live has had a 'Boil Water Notice' issued twice in the last year.

The infrastructure is getting very old, water mains are rusting, cracking, breaking, leaking. When they do, and the main valves are shut off for repairs, the underground pipes can 'inhale' mud, rocks, microbes, organic crud, etc. After both events, within a few days, my faucets were down to a trickle when opened fully. The filter screens on the faucets were full of tiny particles, mostly mineral crud and rust particles.

It's always best to filter the water from unknown sources...in fact I filter ALL my tap water that I use for cooking, making ice, coffee, etc.

You just never know.

Where I live the water that's pumped out of the ground tends to be marginal, not from industrial pollution but natural minerals and chemicals. This is pretty common in the west. Stream water is often bad too by the time it gets to the reservoir. The water dept has also had their wrists slapped a couple times for fudging test results. I got giardia from the tap water over a decade ago. I didn't know what it was until the water dept got caught fudging again. Been doing RO since.

But... I've heard that if you get giardia, then you are pretty much immune afterwards... so I got that goin' for me...

That sucks. I echo that sentiment from one of the posts above. Or someone reported people washing themselves from the faucet. Maybe it's just due to maintenance. At least you have the other one John.

I like the community center I go to. I take it that it is ok to get water from there because they left the handwheel connected. All the spigots I have seen have the handwheel removed and you need a key to operate it. I would think that would be illegal to use hence a private entity. But a community center and they left the handwheel connected. Come on, if I can't go to a community center where can I go. They have sand and bags across the way. So it must be ok. That's my argument if I ever get questioned by law enforcement. The community center is for the community so is the water and the sand bags and the public restrooms around the corner.

There are water vending machines in front of groceries store I got to that accepts 5 gal jugs. I've used it a few times and use country fill mode. Like the other post, .50/ gal. I only have a 15.3 gal fresh water.

Then there's a church which doesn't have a handwheel on the spigot which means I can get in trouble using a key. If law enforcement catches me, can I just say, I am just trying to get some holy water officer?

In Science Fiction, that is a popular theme.
You board the cruise-ship to Titan or Alpha Centuri -- or the shoulder of Orion -- and your cabin has an air meter.
You breathe too much, you get a bill for that excess.
.
What's that, you say?
You invested your last scheck-ills in just getting to your new homestead?
You are broke, nothing left?
Wallet empty, no fedbux for the various versions of air tax(es)?
Only one way out of that predicament.
Indentured Servitude.

A popular theme.

I never have trouble getting free water for my rig. I simply walk into a gas station, say I’m going to fill up but also need to top off my water tank and ask if it’s ok. If they say no for any reason, I’m off to the next station but most don’t have a problem with it provided u r buying something.
