I’ve had this charger working fine for 4.5 years. It just stopped charging when the engine is running, seemingly at random. The charger seems to charge after the house battery ground has been disconnected and reconnected. It will then charge when the engine is started the first time, then it will charge again after each time the engine is started, up to three or four times, then it will stop charging when the engine is started until the battery ground is disconnected and reconnected. The house battery is a Renogy lifepo smart 100ah. I’ve checked all the fuses and the ignition signal wire and everything checks out. It seems like the charger just turns itself off after a few starts. Or could it be a battery problem?

Might be a wire connector issue. Bumps and vibrations on the road stuff. Start at one end of the wire runs and work your way to the other checking and tightening everything. If the problem still persist then start testing components. But intermittent problems are frequently caused by a flakey connection. Hopefully an easy to find external one.

I agree. As a first step, go from one end to other cycling connections (unplug, then re-plug) and if there are set screws tightened on wires (euro style) be sure to tighten those, they can work loose from vibration and hot-cold cycles.

I should have stated that I’ve already checked all the connections including the IGN signal to the charger. All good. I’m thinking that the pattern of it working for several engine start/stop cycles, then stop working, may be a clue to the problem.
