Songs about nomadic life, homelessness, etc.

...And the road becomes my bride I have stripped of all but pride So in her I do confide And she keeps me satisfied Gives me all I need ...And with dust in throat I crave Only knowledge will I save To the game you stay a slave Rover, wanderer Nomad, vagabond Call me what you will Metallica

tall ship todaqy in Erie, photos

Make sure you check out Presque Isle Park. When I lived in Erie you could take a tour of the ship when it was docked. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using Tapatalk

How do I deal with fear of breakdowns?

When I worked as a roadside assistant I carried a breaker bar, set of 12 point impact sockets and a 3 foot piece of pipe for extra torque. Never had trouble with stubborn lug nuts. The post for a reflective vest is a good idead too. Nothing scarier than changing a tire at night on a busy...

How much Rice do you use?

You should invest in a small pressure cooker if you like to cook rice. (There are a couple threads on the topic) it cuts down on the cooking time.  Also soaking your rice overnight with a teaspoon of lemon juice will cut the cooking time in half and make it easier to digest.

    12 Volt Recipes?

I used one too when I worked on the road. Mostly ate a lot of frozen food. I found that the little foil pans were perfect to bake in and made for easy clean up.

    Vocational Schools

I have thought about the body work side of it too. Has anyone ever done this? I agree you definately have to be comfortable with what you want done. For me they were great for brake, alignments, tire mounting, suspensions. General stuff on that level. I wouldn't let them tinker with my...

    Vocational Schools

I've never had any trouble like that, but I also have the common sense to not let students do anything too complicated until I got a feel for the instructors.

    Vocational Schools

I don't know if this topic has been addressed, but I have done it for years with no problems and saving loads of money. If you have a vocational school near you that teaches auto repair or body repair, you can talk to the instructor about any work you need done. Now all schools aren't the...

    Washing Dishes in the Desert

That's good info to have. I think I will stick to more traditional methods then. Never heard of it back in the 70's and 80's when I was tramping around that area.

    Washing Dishes in the Desert

A practice I used in my camping days around Yuma that saved a lot of water and got dishes spotless. We would scrub dishes with dry sand until clean. All you had to do after they were clean is wipe them with a damp towel to remove any sand and dust. Really helped save on water. Anybody else...
