Lenny thanks for those inside photos.  Amazing ship. One day I'd like to go to a tall ship event

The odd thing is that I've been in US battleships and Soviet submarines, and even though the boats are a lot bigger, they just cram more stuff into it, so the crew is just as cramped and crowded as always.  :)

A broadside of ten at once must have been ear-shattering. I assume most naval gunners were probably half-deaf.)

^^^WHAT?

I have a friend that has a lobster boat named the Flying Dutchman no sails but does carry a hand cannon for catching sharks!

THX Brian
That's been on my calendar since I was a professional pirate in 2010...
I'll tell pirate jokes on that day!

Weird.

I have a biker acquaintance that used to build and sell Flying Dutchman Motorcycle trailers.

More?

I have another who used to run a bar with a pirate theme all over the inside. After closing he would fire roman candle fireworks at the competing bar across the lot. As if the two bars were pirate ships firing cannons, broadside, at each other. Yes, he spoke barely intelligible pirate phrases during the 'battles'. Rum may have been involved.

Still more?

I often fly a pirate flag from my trailer or van, it says "Surrender the Booty"

One more?

I have a kokopelli tattoo on my right forearm...its been there since 1996.

Kokopelli....the Indian God of Horny-ness.

That is all. Signing out, cap'n.

Tx2sturgis. That's hysterical about the battles of the two bars. Good story!

This guy was a bit loony....he would light up fireworks sparklers and 6 foot showers of sparks in the bar....he super-glued quarters to the wooden floor and the wooden countertop....you know...to frustrate the drunks...

He has a dog named Beauregard..of course we call him 'Bo'....the dogtag on the dog's collar has the dog's name, a  phone number, and the words, and I quote: "I will pee on your couch".

One time during a football game on the large screen, rear projector TV in the bar, Dallas was losing, this guy was getting mad, and as the clock ran out and Dallas lost, he walked behind the counter, grabbed his .357, and SHOT the TV into oblivion! GLASS went EVERYWHERE!

If this guy had been born hundreds of years ago...he probably would have ended up as a captain on a real pirate ship...and probably, very, very rich.

Sounds like a fun, entertaining guy!

He and I got into a business deal one time...

He got the best of me.....the turkey!

I found out later on that he dealt in...lets say....'items'....that were not on the menu at the bar.

A while after that he did some time in the 'crossbar' motel.

Nuff said.

Alas, it has been raining off and on in Erie ever since I got here, and the temp is in the low 70s, which is winterlike for a Florida boy like me. I had to unpack my medium-weight sleeping bag. Brrrr.

I have a lifelong friend who has spent the last 15 years or so sailing around the world, and lately he's been sailing up the east coast of the USA.

I'm willing to bet hes seen his share of the 'tall ships' in that area.

Must be nice!

Make sure you check out Presque Isle Park. When I lived in Erie you could take a tour of the ship when it was docked.

Yeh, I toured the Niagara just a few hours before she sailed.  :)

I'll be at the Park tomorrow--it's supposed to finally stop raining.
