    Ram V6 vs Larger V8

Howdy! I own a '97 Dodge B350 Class B with the 5.9 "Magnum" V-8. Bought it with 60,000 on the odometer and it now reads 165,000. The 5.9 Magnum engine is superb. I average around 17mpg pulling a small motorcycle/trailer. No major work on the engine with one exception. Seems that model...

Stuck between a rock and crazy place

"my dad bought us the house so we'd always have a place to stay" Speaking as a dad; I would say you were blessed with a good one who provided for your future. His wisdom and concern for you hasn't changed, even though he has passed. Dad bought you a "lifeboat" for if/when the ships...

Diverting urine into the gray tank

Maki2:        I do not appreciate the personal attack, especially since you don't know me. My wife of 39 years who travels with me would disagree with your assumptions. Yes, she does pee in the sink and under trees, because she is an outdoors person. We are fortunate enough to have a small sink...

Tiny Chinese electric RV based on a tuk-tuk

We had a local dealer that carried the Mahindra diesel Roxor "jeeps". Yeah....too cool to pass up. Nice little diesel power train, like a tractor simple and ruggedly built. Well thought out off-road design, really a nice vehicle. Yep...you can get them already in military colored schemes, Navy...

Alternatives to wireless on the road

Local libraries usually have internet computers hard wired. Great places for getting local news and information about interesting stuff to see nearby. That's what I use, works for me.......... Happy Trails!

Where do you do your vehicle maintenance?

Retired military folks can take advantage of the "Auto Craft Shops" located on most military bases. You pay a small hourly fee and get to use all their tools, lifts, engine hoists, etc. Another huge advantage is the retired military Motor Sergeant that usually runs the place; if you get stuck on...

    Newbee from Arkansas

Howdy from Heber Springs to a fellow Arkansan! I'm currently at "home base" until February. I usually travel via motorcycle or a small Class B van about 8 months/year. Been camping all my life and Arkansas is "Camper's Heaven", we enjoy some of the best State Parks in the nation. Didn't catch...

    NAPA store in Clifton, Arizona

The NAPA store in Lone Pine, CA. treated me and friends very well many times in the past. Delivered a alternator to my campsite in the Alabama Hills and hung around to chat while I installed it. Another time, on motorcycles, they gave us access to their shop and tools to change a moto tire...

TOYOTA Mini MotorHome- Advice for Newbie.

Hello:        I have owned two Toyota based rigs. 1984 Sunrader shorty with 4-cyl 22R and 4-speed manual transmission. I installed an RV camshaft to increase the torque (pulling power) of the engine along with a Weber carburetor. That setup made adequate power to cruise along at 55 mph and get...

    bedding

May I put in a good word for the "Rubber Lady" (air mattress)?  All the above points are good and valid, however, if room is tight (motorcycle camping) for whatever reason and you need a easily stored, sleepable "bed", I recommend a US Army issue air mattress from the 1990s.    ...
