2014 Ford F150 XL 2wd painted white reg cab 8 foot box V6 6-speed auto 19 mpg epa sticker air cond tilt wheel rear step bumper trailer tow package w/ class 3 frame mount hitch 3.73 limited slip axle $27K sticker price 6750 gvw

Don't need 4x4, only want a single cab and need a box on the back. I say skip the pickup and go with an E-150 or E-250. :D

I wonder if there are any good deals on Econolines now they are switching over to the Transit.

Well looking around here the closest I can find to a new Econoline is 2015 cut away.

I'm not sure if they are offering discounts on new ones, but in the next month or so Uhaul always starts auctioning off their fleet from last year (2014). Those are loaded E-250's with the 4.6 V8 and running boards. You can find them with just under 5k miles for right around $20,000. They also have Chevy 2500's on the road last year, so I assume those will be available this year as well.

Thanks to all that have replied to this thread.

I have decided to go with the new model F150 but I am going to give them a few years to get the bugs out and buy a 2017 model.

The aluminum body with 700 pounds less weight and the new 2.7L V6 with 325hp/375torque was the difference.

My build is the regular cab XL 6.5’ box, 2.7L V6, trailer towing package, 3.73 electronically controlled limited slip rear axle, factory installed trailer brake controller, manual towing side mirrors

Tow rating per above specifications is 8500 pounds.

Well, you're a braver man than I am.

You understand that you are offering to pay Ford for the privilege of being one of the gamma testers of their brand new engine?

The Ford 7.3 diesel was one of the great engines. The 6.0 diesel that replaced it was an unmitigated disaster.

You literally have no idea which category the new 2.7 will wind up in.

Good luck.

Regards
John

In two years the verdict will be in on the 2.7L.

The base 3.5L gives me a 7600 pound tow rating in a 2015 model so I might just go that route and save $795.

I am sure the base HP will also be increased for 2017.

The 6 speed tranny and 3.73 axle ratio are more important than actual rated HP.

I want something that when not towing will offer good mpg, that's easy to park, with great visibility vs. a cargo van.

I found a new ultralight 20' TT that's under 3500 pounds to provide full time living space.
