I'm on a budget, and I've been thinking I'm going to get a small pull-along trailer. I found a place that has some very late model trailers that have 'hail damage.' Obviously, if there is a broken window, vent, etc, that needs to be fixed, but if there is just a round 'ding' in the sheathing - and I would imagine a slight compression of the insulation under that ding - is there any inherent problem with this? The trailers look like new, otherwise, and frankly, I'm not so proud that I mind, if I'm saving thousands of dollars. What do you think? Thanks!

Function trumps form in my book, and pocket book, within reason. Go for it if it pleases you. Good luck!!

Minor hail damage would not bother me at all....but major dents all over the side and roof would be something to avoid.

Also depends on what kind of trailer it is and what materials were used in construction.

Slight dings in a metal roof skin is one thing, but deep cracks in fiberglass nosecaps or laminated sides are something different.

If you plan to sell it in the future it could be a deal breaker and a one or two year old trailer will have all the warrenty problems resolved so if buying it had better be much less than a used one and come with a good warrenty as it is almost for sure to have or develope problems.

yep it all depends. lots of variables with this question. the big one in my book is did the damage cause leaks or will it cause leaks in the near future? highdesertranger

yes, minor vs. major damage, so check it out fully and if it suits you, go for it.

I bought my rv with minor hail damage.... and got it for about half price. HAPPY

But if they act like golfball dimples, the trailer would be more aerodynamic.  :D :p :D

Depends how much they are discounting the trailer.  I bought my pickup 4 years ago and it had the hail beat out of it, but I saved a bunch of money and it runs great.  Where are these trailers?  If you buy a trailer that's perfect it's gonna get beat up at some point anyway.
