Would anyone buy this and if so, how would you go about fixing it up?

if brakes are good and if it has a roof leak it's some caulk, paint and maybe some 1/4" ceiling wood.

Worst case scenario is holding tanks have cracks, plumbing needs fixed, brakes/wheel bearing/tires, roof, mold, carpet. prolly get it done for under $500. Trailer tires are like $45.

Everything is there already. No way is it less work than from scratch.

the naysayers have no imagination. for 300 bucks if it's a POS you could part it out then scrap the shell. highdesertranger

Problem is - how do you dispose of what's left? Landfills are filling up and you'd probably have to pay to dump it. Maybe more than what you paid for it. I had that problem with a big fiberglass boat that I took off someone's hands for free, thinking I'd fix her up.

I find that "bought this as a project, but don't have time to work on it" is code for "I made the same mistake, I'm hoping you will make"

scrap it. with an aluminum shell you would get a few bucks for it. on the west coast I guessing between 50 and 150 bucks depending on the weight. I am not sure on the east coast as we are 3,000 miles closer to Asia. highdesertranger

$1000 cargo trailer, and this

done, and it'll still be rolling when, not if, that POS falls apart
I had a 28' trailer like that on my land when i moved in, scrapped it and got one for $600 out of the Thrifty Nickel that only had one small roof leak

The 28 footer the walls were bowed, the roof was bowed, leaked like a sieve, grew mushrooms inside, black mold throughout, wasp nests between ceiling and roof
when the guy that took it hauled it off it slumped to the right as it cleared my property
doing a cargo only costs a mint if you insist on trying to make an actual travel trailer out of it

I've seen a popup for $1000, it was actually pretty livable looking, but it's still a tent
I guess it would depend on predators in areas I might want to visit
if there's bears or other large predators I'd for sure want something hard sided

One thing to consider is what do you have to tow that beast with?

Old trailers of any type can be a money pit. The best thing I can think is to find something in good condition and really check it out or get it checked out. A bad fridge can cost more than the rig itself. I know a new set of tires just ran me $400 for my trailer. A new battery could be under $100 but it may not run the furnace for a night. If noting else have a concept of what it could cost you to get it usable.

make OSB inserts between the trailer wall and roof on the inside of the canvas. store them on one of the beds when travelling.

good idea
Now I'm kicking myself for passing that one I coulda had for $1200 back when I was shopping
wouldn't have the 'new TT payment
wouldn't have needed the van, Ranger woulda pulled it
