Hi there! I'm new around here, haven't even posted an introduction (I'll get to it :p), but I'm on something of a short timetable, and could use some advice. Long story short, I was a housewife with mobility issues (constant knee pain) and anxiety (general, social, and occupational) until a couple weeks ago, when my fiance called things off. I have decided to use this as a push toward the life I've always dreamed of, living full time on the road. I am leaning toward a trailer and tow car, probably a pickup so I can also bring my scooter with me, but the scooter is all I have right now. I have been obsessively researching the life, and employment, but I could use some suggestions on that regard. I am hoping for something I can do remotely, but would very much rather not do call center stuff. I have experience with research, data entry, accounts payable, and I've been using computers and internet for most of my life (I'm 28), I'm reasonably intelligent and resourceful, but I'm having trouble thinking of things to apply for. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Hi and welcome!

You're not alone. I'm 27 and been pretty significantly disabled since I was 16 with chronic illness. I've only become reasonably independent the past couple years, and while I still rely on SSI for income I'm currently working on supporting myself.

I've documented some of my jobs and my journey in this thread. It's going to look different for everyone based on what works for you, and you won't really know until you try. What I've found easiest so far is the chatting job, which I make $50/week on. There's no schedule and no specific topics to talk about, so basically you're paid to hang out online with folks who fast become friends. PM me if you want more info on that--they're looking for more folks to join and it doesn't even require an interview.

$200/month isn't enough, but it's the most stable and flexible one out there for me so it's a solid "read and butte" one.

I'm turning to freelance writing as my long-term plan. If that sounds like your thing I could pass along all the resources I've found for that. In the meantime I'm just working whatever odd jobs friends and family can give me that I can do.

Based on your experience you might want to look into being a virtual assistant. I have no experience with it myself but I hear it's a thing.

Good luck!

I'm limited in what I can do. I house, pet and small farm sit on my way back and forth cross country. I don't make a lot of money. Sometimes I do it just for a place to hang for awhile.
