I was browsing the free section on craigslist and saw someone giving away sections of picket fencing. Looking at it I realized that getting  used picket fence sections or even buying new ones from stores such as Home Depot would be a huge labor savings method of building one of the slated pull out beds.  The slats have already been evenly spaced out for you. But you would want to put screws in to make it more secure than the staples they are typically assembled with. Of course you will also need to trim off the ends of the pickets but would be quick to do. Cedar wood is sufficient in strength for someone under 200 lbs.
 
Oh, what a cool idea! I've been thinking of a Murphy bed . . . this might help. I like the idea and will give it more consideration.
