Women Only: RTR 2018 Related

I asked this in another group but, while it got a lot of interest, didn't get much in the way of answers. Thought I'd check here.

As my signature says I'm traveling in a Kia Rio. This does not allow for sleeping inside the car without down-and-dirty dismantling, which I am not ready to do to my car. Hence, I have a tent -- a a couple of camp chairs -- and a shower tent -- and a folding table with two butane hot plates and a few other ecteras. 

My RTR concern is hauling enough water for the full two weeks. That's a lot of water! And I know that Quartzite isn't that far away but -- what about leaving my site for a couple hours? Will I come back and find everything gone? Do I have to pack it all up if I need to leave for a bit? If I do need to pack it all up, will I even be able to get back into the same site or will someone pull into it?

Questions, questions, questions. ;-)

I left my site almost daily to go to town. I left my generator and chairs out. Never a problem. If you are uncomfortable with the people who camp near you then move. Make friends with the people near you and watch after each other.

It should be fine to leave all of your stuff when you go to town. We attended 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017, and while the number of people has really grown I haven't heard of any theft or any real problems of any type. We've lent tools and a ladder and borrowed tools. Everything has always been returned. Most people leave things sitting outside at their campsites when they're not there and also leave chairs at the fire rings.

Please keep asking questions! Ignore, if you can, those that ridicule.

I've attended most of the RTRs, since the beginning. I've never had a problem leaving items in my camp while I'm in town. Nothing has ever been taken. As others have said, get to know your neighbors and watch out for each other.

I'm so looking forward to the RTR, to be around like-minded folks again ... friends new and old.

Don’t stop posting! I need a partner to put those “mean” comments in their place! There’s a chance they don’t realize their replies aren’t really helpful and sometimes hurtful. Sometimes I feel like it’s because I’m a woman but then I see similar comments to “new to rv men” too. I don’t understand why they can’t just answer the question!!! For sure, don’t be afraid to ask, that’s how we learn (well along with mistakes). Your questions have been helpful for me...keep asking.

There's a little red flag and a link button down on the bottom right hand corner of the reply section.

It sends a message to the moderators. If you feel that a reply to one of your questions is written in such a way as to ridicule your question, tell them about it.

It is guaranteed that one of them will look at the post, probably more than one. There is no guarantee that they will read it the same as you did. Sometimes I read something and get offended and then my friend sitting across the van from me will read the same thing and burst in to laughter.

Sometimes it's more about the how the reader reads a post than how the writer wrote it.

But not all the time. It's worth a try!
