Hey all,
I'm setting up our Weboost (Wilson) cell signal booster for the Verizon Hotspot (which I already have). Today I received the directional antenna (the plastic flag looking one that Bob Wells has with his system) for the Verizon frequencies.

I'm confused. The pigtail coming off of the antenna is a plain RG58 coaxial cable-the same as for TV cable.  Looking at the articles and posts, I was under the impression that I needed LMR400 coaxial cable. What gives? Has Wilson changed the cable?

Any input is helpful, and, thank you.
Ted

that is just an antenna you still need the booster which the antenna plugs into. highdesertranger

Yeah, that's right. But we're putting the cable through the roof in preparation for the booster. Since we won't need the booster until we're on the road, I don't want to use of credit card (and lose the 30 day Amazon warranty) for something we don't need yet and won't be able to test for months. But we can't finish up the ceiling until all of our cables (solar, wifi, cell booster and TV) are mounted through the roof so we can avoid having visible wiring.

I did buy the antenna so I can figure out how to temporarily mount it on the antenna pole prior to our walkabout-and to help to figure out what and how I want to run the correct cable through the roof. I saw in previous posts and Bob's blog entry that he used the LMR400 cable. Also in one of my first posts, I was having a problem trying to plan for this. So I assumed it would be that lmr400 cabling. But the antenna I just got has an RG58 coaxial cable pigtail on it and I'm quite surprised. I brought the lmr400 cable, but tomorrow is the end of my 30 day return period for Amazon. I need to know what type of cable I attach to the RG58 pigtail coming off the antenna that will be attached to the booster. I don't want to put the wrong type of cable through the roof.

Plus, I paid $37 for the lmr400 cable and I want to return it if I don't need to use it.

Thanks,
Ted

I think you need to get ahold of Weboost. their antennas only fit certain boosters. are you looking at a compatible booster? if they say the antenna works with the booster you picked, I don't see a problem. highdesertranger

Okey dokey, I'll do that. Since I was looking at the 4g Sleek, I assumed it would be what others has gotten for the 3g Sleek. I'll report back when I contact them for the edification of future inquirers.

Good idea (now why didn't I think of that?).
