Which would you choose?

they come as a complete long block, no intake, no balancer, no flywheel. so you must use your intake and accessories. they do have valve covers and oil pans installed. you can get plug and play but they cost more. you can also get high performance engines. highdesertranger

I have had a really good experience years ago when we had a small town dealership during one of their slow work periods basically sell my workplace a GM crate motor at cost to keep their mechanics making enough flat rate hours. Full warranty labor and parts if I remember correctly.

the ones i was just looking at were about $1700 for a long block and i think it was jegs that had them with intake,carb,distributor and dress up kit for just over 2k

but then there is the trans,rearend,brakes and suspension

a healthy new engine will eat up an old trans pretty quick
