Which screws?

It all depends on what you are fastening together. Fasten a 1/2 plywood to a 1x3? then use a wood screw 1 inch long. Fasten a 2x4 to a timber? 2 1/2 would be about right. When you say star head do you mean philips or the specialty multi point shapes. 10 gauge are heavier than I used. you can get a lot of screws for not that much money. Best to use what is right for the material being screwed.

star drive = Torx.

as far as the length goes it all depends on what you are attaching to what.

Perfect for some things , too big or long for others , an assortment of smaller boxes would probably serve you better.

If you do use them pilot holes would be a good idea with #10 screws.

25 POUNDS?

Mercy.

This is a van right? That's enough screws for 5 builds! And those are mainly for fastening thinner lumber to stringers or headers.

One or two pounds of that size would probably be more than enough.

Are we talking about ways to put things together as in making cabinets and such for the van or for attaching things to the van body? For attaching to the van body I have used the plus nuts that go into either an existing hole or drilled one where I needed it and then put the plus nut in. Anywhere I put a plus nut in I now had a threaded hole to attache things to the van wall to secure them. This is how I made some upper cabinets that now have baskets in them for storage. I would just put put a plus nut in one of the ribs so that I could easily bolt up the support piece that I made my cabinets out of.

25 lbs is way too many screws even if they are 2 1/2" long.

When Lady Arabella was built I ended up with at least one box of # 10 wood screws in every length made from 1/2" up to 2 1/2". I also went through at least 2 boxes of Kreg screws in 2 different lengths.

I recommend that one stand at the screw section of the hardware store and just buy 1 box of every length of wood screw there is. Get them all the same head so you don't have to chase down the other sizes of screw drivers and be done with it. The alternative is a trip to the store every damned day to get one more box of screws in whatever length you don't already have in stock....

The P.O. of the van - well I removed a 5 gallon bucket of screws, nuts and bolts from his build and it was no where near the interior I have. I can tell  you that I cursed that man every screw of the way...he used 1 1/2" screws where 3/4" would be better, and 4" where a 2" was needed!

remember she got the screws for free. so they might not be for everything but she will probably find a use for some of them. highdesertranger

Thanks for repeating. We haven't established torx or philips. that doesn't matter. Kreg screws are for squared bit. I like torx screws for where they show, they just look nicer. Each size torx has a different size bit. the bit comes in the box, mostly. Home depot has better assortment than Lowes. I ended up with more types of screws and bolts than i ever knew existed. I think I will dump all the remains into gallon paint cans , assorted. Leave them for my g grandchildren to dig through. I screwed a horizontal, front to rear, 5/4x4 to the vertical ribs. Just below the window line. About 24 inches from the floor. My furniture fastens to the 3/4 plywood floor and the horizontal board. After struggling with the bed, I have used Kreg tool and screws for the rest of the wood work. Basic instucktion, 1x3 fastened into frames for furnishings. Used Kreg Jig and screws. Frames fastened to floor and horizontal board. Using Kreg Jig and screws. All cuts were made with table top 12 inch mitering saw. This one would work; https://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-C10F...UTF8&qid=1505910854&sr=1-4&keywords=miter+saw
