Where do you fill water tanks when living in the city?

Just wondering where you would go to constantly fill tanks without having to stay at an overnight rv park?

I fill my friends tanks often. At my house with municipal water. Be sure the source is potable water.

I fulltime on the city streets in Canada, year round. I usually fill up my water tanks at local businesses after they close or after dark.&nbsp;Bring your own&nbsp;hose. I find this much more acceptable. Why fill up at a busy gas station trying to move your rig around in a busy&nbsp;lot looking for the water tap that a million people have touched and or stuck the hose in their radiator.<br>&nbsp;I&nbsp;move once a week like a ritual. Commercial or industrial or strip malls, warehouses all have water taps. Most are rarely shut off in winter, and amazingly, most of the outside taps aren't frozen either(winter). Bring a small propane plumbers torch with you in the cold months. They come in handy for other things that freeze in winter too. I also run the tap for a minute to clean out any crud that may be in there.<br>Now you can shower and drink as much coffee as you want. NO BIG DEAL. Simple.<br>All the above mentioned are acceptable too, but I guess I'm picky.<img class="emoticon bbc_img" src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif">

yes buster you are asking for trouble. &nbsp;here in kalifornia&nbsp; if you get caught doing this there will be a fine.&nbsp; the forest circus has picked up on this, &nbsp;in&nbsp;many nf they&nbsp;state you are not allowed to dump any gray water even if it's only a pot full.&nbsp; this will only spread.&nbsp; beside posting this on a public forum gives us all a bad name.&nbsp; highdesertranger

I know you guys might think this is funny but in Siskiyou national forest the ranger came into my camp to make sure I had black and gray water containment, &nbsp;and this same forest district tells you to piss in the river not on land.&nbsp; go figure.&nbsp; &nbsp;highdesertranger

We've stopped into RV dealers to ask where a dump/water site is and been invited to use theirs at no cost. They usually say to remember them when we're ready to trade.
We also look online...g00gle shows several websites under rv dump sites.
Many city dumps/fairgrounds usually go for $3-5, some free. Pilot/flyingJ is $5 with their club card. RV parks usually $10 for dump and water if you're not staying.
When in the boonies, we shower and do dishes outside if possible since our gray tank is smaller than the black, which can go up to 12 days for us....especially if we can go out to pee.

Once in a small town, I asked at a little store where there was a dump. The guy said he dumps his in the sewer cleanout pipe on the side of the building...."help your self, just keep it clean", says he.
