ok setting up for van dwelling what all do i need to do

Welcome!

That's a pretty broad question, I think something more specific would yield better quality responses? Here's how I start out with a topic area new to me:

Step 1 read up on past threads and start making a list of things you want to do, functional areas and specific keywords for searching

Step 2 use the site search facility and google with "site:cheaprvliving.com" and topic keyword, e.g

https://www.google.com/search?q=stoves+site:cheaprvliving.com

to do basic research, taking notes and starting a list of your current questions for the topic.

Step 3 Do some more searching to see if you can find the many answering info that has already been posted in past threads.

Step 4 Once you're ready, start a new thread in an appropriate subforum asking a specific (list of) question for each topic.

At some point, review this classic guide to getting to most out of online forums:

besides getting a po box and van insurance and changing all mail to po box what else

Write down a list of what all you need to live such as

1. Daily stuff
How organized for you
2. Daily dog stuff
Organized best for both your dog and ya.
3. Kitchen stuff
Dine out or cook some
Do you need a cooler for meds, your dog's food, drinks
4. Bed
How do you plan to sleep
Covers/sleeping bag
Pillow(s)
Dog bed, if needed
5. Chargers for Techy items
6. Inverters ?
7. Generator?
8. Solar panels?
9. Trash bag
10. Car kit for cleaning, ER such as dead battery, papers
11. Car log book, notepad, or app? I assume you wanna keep up with at least gasoline and mpg.
12. And much more to be discovered

Rvpopeye, good suggestion on Atlas. I recommend the studier and dry erase ones.

I imagine you already have your van? If so, hop in it with what you already have on your list and go hit a cheap CG or free place and see what you need during that weekend\week\month. A lot of stuff I bought was useless or didn't work as imagined.

You need...
Food\water\shelter\hygiene

Keep it simple and after that add complexity(charging phone). Best of luck!

Looks very cool Buster my service dog!  I hope you have found contentment there and for many days to come. :D S

Sorry, not much to base a response on. What are your plans and ambitions first and then realize that there are no 'one size fits all' solutions. It's your journey, half the pleasure is in coming up with the plan and executing it. Keep it simple at first.

Guy

my big thing is setting up a po box finding a bank that is nation wide our budget is 700.00 a month

Most people use a poo bucket.   ;)  Get a large supply of bags and wipes.  Cedar shavings work wonders at keeping down oders.

Set up E~Banking.  I use USAA for banking and insurance.  Roadside service.  Just a phone call away for everything.

Find a top antivirus program.

Cooking ~ how and where.

Food and water storage

Power for lights, fridge, devices.

Limo tint for the windows.  Also curtains.

If that's your total COL budget then best to ask a trusted family member or friend if they'll let you "reside" with them, and forward your mail every once in a while.

no family just me and the dogs

Getting a friend to help will save $20-40 a month.

Plus the bigger commercial places (like UPS store) addresses are blacklisted for many financial companies or government ID usage.

See the other threads for workarounds, but they're more expensive.

I've used two different private mail services (Mail Depot and PostNet) over the last 10 years and never had any issues with using them as my "primary"  address. My current private mail box is listed on everything (my drivers license, utility bills, all financial and insurance documents, etc). This is the only address we give out to anything we fill out. Even have our passports and tax returns sent there with no issues.

Good to know. The latter is a big network, is the former this one?
