Since I'm not going to be mobile for a good while until the kids are out of High School. So, that leaves me with a decision on providing a home for them half the time but also allowing enough money to help their Mom with her bills and still have enough left over to live on and save.

And with everything else going on, I had decided on buying an inexpensive Class C or maybe a Class A since I have somewhere where it could be parked.

But, today I went and looked at some storage sheds and think I'm going that route, the shed I'm converting is 12 by 24 with two huge lofts for the kids bedrooms. It even has a tiny porch.

The cool thing is everything detailed here for cheap RV dwelling will work just as well with my tiny home so I'll be able to have a hot shower, electricity without having to hook up to the grid.

I'm pretty excited and will have a lot of fun fixing the shed....Tiny Home up :)

Anyone need an ugly but decent 89 G20 Class B?

Maybe post up some details and pictures of  both the B and the shed!

Here's the thread where I posted shots of it:

It's pretty neat, has a dinette in the back and both of the benches fold into a bed. There is a small refrigerator, microwave and sink with running water. It also has a 110 plug.

I think this discussion would fit really well in "Trading Post". No harm in having it in both sections.

True but I'm not sure what my price will be yet so I haven't posted it there.

Haha, no not quite that high, somewhere in the 1700-2000 range.

Be sure you have a place you can put it. Zoning laws and building codes can be pretty persnickety about what you can put where to live in.

Yep, that will get the $1,500 crowd out there....I'd be asking, but am sure with all the sunshine in pic, you're too far away...No probs, my "New" van will show up soon...

I'm in the Tallahassee area and I do have a spot where there's not too many restrictive codes. These tiny sheds/cabins/tiny homes are in every back yard, usually more than one :)

It's a good van and I'd like to keep it but the commute would be expensive so I picked up an old Geo Prizm that gets 30+ MPG.

I was looking for one in that price range when also bus shopping. Couldn't find one. Post location. I'm sure someone on here would like it for that price.

I'm in the Tallahassee area.

I'm going to go sign on the cabin tomorrow. 12 x 24 with two 12 x 8 lofts. Just about everything I have read here will apply to the cabin. I will have two electric plugs but will probably still put some solar on the roof :)

I am trying to figure out how to have hot showers without 'running' water. Does anyone have any experience with portable on demand hot water heaters? I want a system that when the faucet is turned on, will provide hot water from a decent sized water tank. Any ideas/ experience?

I'm pretty excited and ready to get out of here :)

I would definitely do a hot water on demand heater. Everyone that I know who has one loves them. I will be putting one in my house soon. They have excellent reviews although I am not sure about different brands. I would say read reviews from Lowes/Home depot etc.

Congrats on your new home. It sounds awesome! I hope to eventually be able to find a place in Florida. Thinking around Gainesville where lots of land is zoned agricultural. Less zoning restrictions that way. Best of luck to you

"etc" includes Amazon; they seem to have several models and lots of reviews

Signed for the cabin yesterday. Guess I'm moving forward :) Need to make some plans!
