I bought this van with the idea of doing a little conversion work and taking it on month long trips and not have to pull the camper.Vic loves the van,but she said she's too old to give up her 8x16 camper with a bathroom and shower.Well,you know what the old saying is;If mama ain't happy,ain't nobody gonna be happy.I guess we'll only be using the van for trips of a few days.

At the bottom of this post there is a link to my website that is about setting up a Van for "weekend" or "overnight" trips.   I've used this simple set up and had so many people come to look at my Van that
I just created the website so I could give them a card with the web address (URL) and let them look
at it online.

A lot of State and National parks have bathrooms and showers. Some have laundry facilities.  But for short duration jaunts you may consider this.

If  you belong to any of the Gyms (national franchises) you can use those facilities for the
showers and restrooms. 

This is a light approach to taking shorter trips.   You may not have all the amenities of home, but the
flexibility of this system will save you a couple nights in a Motel.  That alone may make up for a lot of the
fuel cost. (should you stay on a Walmart or Lowe's parking lot)  Many State parks offer low cost seniors days
from Monday thru Thursday if you travel on those days.

If your Van averages 15 mpg and a night in a motel cost $60 and fuel is $3 a gallon.....staying in the Van at night will save enough to purchase 20 gallons of fuel.  Thus freeing enough money for 300 miles of travel a day.  If you were out 3 days where you didn't travel on one of those days,  that would free $20 a day
for those 3 days for food etc. 

This is how I've traveled in my Van in the past.  I belonged to the YMCA back then and looked for those
facilities so I could clean up each day.

Why not build a shower in your van for your wife. Could be from very basic to elaborate.
