Hi everyone! I'm Carl, and I am 51. I am a biology/wildlife, EHS and data / computer "guy". Loves dogs, looking at a class B or a van, or even a Caisita or burro....I'd even consider a truck camper!

I have the "How To" to build things and basic mechanics, so I have no fear on that, and I'm willing to learn even more and I go along!

I live with my fiancee - who is NOT into the RV/Vanlife scene - thinks I'm nuts.

I do have three dogs, which make things more interesting!

This is my 5th house in my adult life, and I am getting tired of the clutter (my own clutter I'm getting rid of rather nicely, but I don't have/need much) and the home maintenance (I just spent $1400 to have trees trimmed and removed - UGH!

I'm greatly concerned that a second "lockdown" will trap me in NJ and I won't be able to do what i want...remote work, work outside on the road, and see cool stuff and meet cool people.

I'm hunting the right vehicle, and have a car dealership hunting too.

Currrently reading Robin Barrett, and taking good notes.

(Bob Wells, Rusty 78609 and the rest are tuning my education.)

Anybody with good advice, I'm listening, and I will trade "information and knowledge" for more "information and knowledge"

THANK YOU ALL!

Welcome carlhopf to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the CRVL Forum :)

It's hard to beat the versatility of a sound dependable Van. Whether high top or regular. If you need more room a Utility Trailer can be towed behind the Van. Both the Van and Trailer can be built out to suit your needs. Generally the Van for cooking, living, & sleeping within while the Trailer may house support facilities & resources if you are going to be out for some time. When at a camp the Trailer can be detached and locked down while the Van could be used for errands or short excursions.

I have two sites below you may want to give a look. The lower one is a portal of information to use to plan before going out but it can be used once you are out as well.

Good Luck !
