Check out CouchSurfing.com

You can meet really interesting folks. Most are traveling on a shoestring. Lots of people looking for a place to stay. You can always offer to share you mobile house if your willing to.

If you not willing to do that. You can always check out the forums and find people in your area.

It's a great plece to meet like minded people.

I recently met a girl through the site & I'm now on my way to meet up with her again. This time we will be traveling together instead of me offering her a place to stay.

I know this won't be the best option for everybody. But I though I would bring it to your attention.

Good luck to everyone trying to find a partner to discover the world with.

Same here. I mean, if I'm gonna take my "house" with me, I'm darn sure gonna use it! Even when they insist I stay in their house, cuz they have plenty of room, a spare room/bed or whatever, I always refuse.

Besides, it means I can stay for longer visits with family & friends when I'm not imposing on them for a place to sleep. I keep my own hours, they get a break from me at the end of each evening, etc. It's almost like I live next door, but just come over for a visit everyday, so it works out really well.

For me with my little cargo conversion, all I need is a place to plug in for power, & a place to shower. Naturally, I supply my own soap, shampoo, towel, washrag, etc. All I really need from them is the tub & water! This approach has served me well.

A community worth joining.

Couchsurfing is much more of a 'community', than just a cheap or free night's accommodation. I have been a member for years. Have had folk stay at my house, just as I have accepted the hospitality of others, when I do / did not have my van.

However, it is not just a free or cheap night's accommodation. I will meet travellers, even when I am not able to host them. As an ex taxi driver and a qualified tour guide I can show them around, help them plan a trip, or just be a friendly face in a big city. Even with my van, there is nothing like having a local meet you on arrival in an unfamiliar area.

It is an unwritten courtesy that you reward your host in some way, be it cooking a meal, doing the dishes or just cleaning the bathroom. Others prefer to bring a small souvenir or gift from home. As for me, I like to take my host out to dinner at a moderate place of their choice.
