There are a lot of outdoorsy, "live out of your vehicle, not it it" types around here.
It's refreshing to see I'm not the only one who would rather settle in with a book or tour a museum than climb a mountain or shoot the rapids.  I'm also an introvert who enjoys meeting people but needs plenty of privacy and solitude in my own little bubble.
Trying to balance interior space and mpg is quite the feat.  I've just started looking for a late model Grand Caravan/Town & Country.  I think it will serve me well for daily commuting as well as traveling, and if I'm wrong it's easy enough to sell and try something else.  Whether I end up living in it (or out of it ;)) remains to be seen, but I do plan to whittle down my possessions so nearly everything I own will fit in it.

That sounds like the perfect solution for you!! That should work really well.

I don't know what's going on, but I've deleted more posts in the last two weeks than I did all year. Even more alarming, it just seems to be getting worse.

On his forum we don't get to tell anyone else that they are wrong--no matter how sure you are of it. However, respectfully offering other considerations or options is always welcome and a very good idea.

But for some reason the respect has been lacking lately.

I'm deleting posts that I see as lacking respect for others ideas, I've deleted several from this thread.

Just because their idea doesn't work for you doesn't make it wrong. Just because their idea isn't what is best for you doesn't make your idea better.

No member is allowed to tell another member their idea is wrong or that your idea is better. You're welcome to offer other considerations or options, but never judgement.

I'd buy an  old $1k full size van, spend $200-$300 to convert it into a self contained and comfortable camper van, and have the next couple of years living expenses covered, including all the traveling you desire...

I agree. Getting on the go is the most important part. Life passes you by while you plan. You don"t have to build a super camper to get on the road. Go experience the road to see what works cor you. In the east will you cook everyday with Micky D S across the street? Worried about parking? Wal Marts brother.  Big water cotainer, sink, potty? Nay.   Bottled water, bucket, and potty bucket.  Go experience real life......Hobooe

Do what makes you happy and don't worry about labels.............
