The news, including 60 minutes, has already done "documentary" type stuff on some vandwellers. We don't need more attention. The last thing we all need is more and more people being made aware that we are using THEIR street to park on at night. How DARE we use THEIR street, we'll bring down the NEIGHBORHOOD and it will become a SLUM. They'll just be more likely to harass us, or call the police.

What they don't know is better for all of us.

I feel that these types of things are exploitative and may not turn out so well. Be cautious.

Guess I'm torn, staying invisible is a great way to invite those in power to trample all over your rights and feel both un-opposed and justified.

Being more open and increasing awareness of vandwellers can create unity in the community, as well as increase the levels of compassion felt by people not choosing our lifestyle.

A bad documentary or reality TV show can do a lot of dammage, a good reality TV show or documentary can do a lot of good, but either way will draw more attention to us.

but like I said... I woulden't do it, just dont know if I would encourage others or not, guess it would depend on the focus of the show and the intention of the producers and if I believed them or not.

Bobs already filmed for a canadian one last year. Not sure if he made it to a final cut. I remember reading his blog and some very interesting thoughts both pro and con on it.

I do think that they Pick some pretty out there examples but a lot of the doomsday preppers mixed in seemed like normal sensible folks with good advice too. I thinkm it definitely made people more aware of the benefits to some level of preparedness if not extremes represented like buying assault vehicles and ex missle silos etc
