In someone else's thread a short discussion about hotspot security was had.... I suggested a VPN and someone suggested a personal hotspot.

I've just signed up with NORDvpn for just $48 for the year!  Very big discount.  It has a good rating/review, doesn't keep log, has numerous servers in various countries, and no data nor time limits.

Just thought I'd let you know.

A personal hotspot is limited in data for the money, much more expensive I've found.

Thanks for the tip.

I don't have any personal experience with Nord, but PIA comes in at about that number.   If you really wanted to be anonymous/pseudonymous you can pay with bitcoin.

Good point.  I choose not to mess with bitcoin, myself. ;)

Also, this is for security using any internet connection, whether with your own network onboard or a hotspot like at a coffee shop or truck stop.   This prevents others from following you but also prevents another on the hotspot network from stealing your data, credit card numbers, passwords, contacts etc.

I use Hotspot Shield VPN and I'm allowed up to 5 devices for my yearly cost
