I have some friends who are in VA. One does Italic Calligraphy (hand lettering) and produces custom items for clients. She started out on a site called, "Guru com" a place for freelancers/VA's. It works similar to eBay except instead of goods you are selling, it's your skills/services. These sites give you a small "Profile" space to showcase your skill sets by description and you can post some images of your work. You may use PayPal as a gateway to be paid or others similar to it. Each of these sites below is on a server in the USA.

Here are some other places like Guru,
Fourerr com (good for beginner VA's)
https://www.fourerr.com/
Zeerk.com (similar to Fourerr com)
https://zeerk.com/
There are many more like these out there. Some of them specialize in the talent they reach out to. IT, Multi Media, Office, Programming, Database, etc. Just use the search engines to find VA sites that target your abilities. But VA allows for a lot of earnings opportunity while on the road.

I would think that if a younger person who is into doing this were to set themselves up as a single proprietor small business, they would have some Tax Advantages. (if not with their rig, with capital equipment such as
computer equipment, software, internet cost, cell, business stationary/postage etc)
It may bear being worthwhile to speak with one's accountant to see if the operation of their rig could have any Tax Breaks when used in their work.
